Manchester derby at 15.30 again. Revised schedule* Saturday 2 March Brentford v Chelsea Everton v West Ham Fulham v Brighton Newcastle v Wolves Nott'm Forest v Liverpool Spurs v Crystal Palace 17:30 Luton Town v Aston Villa (Sky Sports) Sunday 3 March 13:00 Burnley v AFC Bournemouth (Sky Sports) 15:30 Man City v Man Utd (Sky Sports) Monday 4 March 20:00 Sheff Utd v Arsenal (Sky Sports)
Imagine moving Burnley v Bournemouth for live Sky coverage. I mean FFS, who else on the planet cares about that fixture aside from the two sets of fans. It's not a relegation 6 pointer (hopefully) nor some big top half clash, and there's no real narrative I can see that even Sky can crowbar in. We'd already started selling tickets based on Sat 3pm as well. F**k knows what time on a Sunday morning I'll have to jump on a minibus now.
TV games for March. TV picks announced for March 2024's remaining matches Nice Monday night trip down South for Newcastle fans !
Bizzies have been weird about this stuff recently, but apparently us & City is a higher risk fixture now. Same as the Carabao final, they've maybe inadvertently made the journey back a bit easier.
bizarre that there's no game basically. tnt are showing Eastleigh v Bromley where a premier league game should be. and for "some reason" arsenal v Newcastle get to be on at 8pm on tnt.
The reason being Arsenal playing away in Europe on the Wednesday. Not a conspiracy, just a following of rules that have been in place for a few years now. Premier League reveals schedule change for Champions League clubs
I don't get why they have this rule in place to suit a side playing away midweek in Europe but they'll have a side play this fixture over and over again when returning from an international break. Which is arguably more of a disruption to any sides preparation. It ****ing stinks. Do away with this fixture time and do away with the 3PM blackout. Which is a primary driver for having all this random fixture times anyway.
The rule is for when sides play away in Europe I believe. Though it should really just be a rule anyway. Simply put there should never be a 12:30 kick off for any side that has played midweek.
I'd agree with that. my point is that arsenal have a massive disadvantage after the porto game that they simply must put everything into.
Just shrugged off as part and parcel of being a top side. But it is wrong, and whilst people would say a couple more hours rest doesn't make a difference I am sure if you offered any manager a 3PM kick off over a 12:30 one then they'd snap your hand off. The margins at this level are important. As I said should be no 12:30 for any sides playing midweek fixtures and shouldn't be any at all post international break. Won't happen though.
yeah it's one of those things that just throws all your preparation off. if you have a full week to prepare you can train at that time and get bodies right. just about every 12:30 game is flat with bad atmospheres. I don't think any fan enjoys them but only those travelling mules to support their team should comment on what fans get out if it.
