Although the deal has been announced it won't be complete until February after the transfer window. Doubt we'll be signing anyone then.

Agreed - nothing significant in terms of squad changes until the summer, maybe a few more off in Jan along with VDB.

The rest of the season will be used as an assessment period by INEOS IMO.

If true that's all good news.

According to Twitter today the Qatari bid never really existed, it was all smoke and mirrors that at no stage fulfilled the requirements of official bids, even the image that was widely posted of 'Sheik Jassim' appears to have been AI generated.

At least it did a great job of exposing plenty of so-say life long fans who were happy to sell out their beliefs and morals, or indeed had none at all.

I only ask because I've joked (Or half-joked) with friends that I didn't think al thanni was a real person, just because there have only been like three photos of him. Just curious

I suppose it helped up the price a bit and make the Glazers a few more quid.

Should all be done and dusted by Saturday morning. Then the changes can begin . . .

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's deal to buy a 25% stake in Manchester United has been approved by the Football Association and Premier League.

The British billionaire's purchase is worth about $1.3bn (£1.03bn).

Owners the Glazer family will retain a majority stake in the club but Ratcliffe's Ineos Group will take control of football operations.

The sale cannot be completed until after the share offer is closed, which is Friday night in the United States.

Premier League approval is contingent on the deal being completed.

"The Premier League now awaits confirmation of the transaction's completion," the league said in a statement, while confirming Ratcliffe, 71, has also signed its owners' charter.

The deal is the first to be agreed under the Premier League's updated owners' and directors' test, which was approved by member clubs in March 2023 and includes a review by an independent oversight panel.

"The FA can confirm that the Barclays Women's Super League and Barclays Women's Championship Board have approved the acquisition by Sir Jim Ratcliffe of Manchester United Football Club in relation to its Manchester United Women's entity," the FA said in a statement.

Ratcliffe's deal was agreed on Christmas Eve and also includes $300m (£236m) for future investment in the club's Old Trafford stadium.

The businessman has agreed to buy 25% of the club's class B shares, largely held by the Glazer family, who own 69% of the club, and contain almost all the voting rights, and up to 25% of its class A shares, which are listed on the New York Stock Market. The shares are worth $33 each.

An update to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday evening confirmed that the deadline for holders of class A shares to tender them for sale has been extended from Wednesday until 23:59 EST on Friday.

So far 36.7% of class A shares have been tendered, already above the 25% Ratcliffe has agreed to buy.

Taking on sporting control at the club means Ineos will oversee the men's and women's football operations and academies.

They will also get two seats on the Manchester United PLC and Manchester United Football Club boards.

Ratcliffe has already made several visits to Old Trafford and the club's training ground while he waits for the deal to receive final approval.

BBC Sport understands that process is proceeding positively towards completion.

The Glazer family bought Manchester United for £790m in 2005.

The Mail has it that United and Newcastle have come to an agreement to bring Dan Ashworth to OT.

Can't say I know too much about him, but certainly seems like Ratcliffe is making some decent decisions to far. If true..

I only remember Newcastle having to pay Brighton a big fee to release him from gardening leave (so we’ll have to do the same) very well spoken of from what I’ve read and rated very highly - anything to sort out our diabolical recruitment is a massive step forward.

Cautiously optimistic regarding these recent appointments. They look great on paper, but what actually happens is a different story.

I imagine it will also be a while before we see the improvements, as it will take a while for them to sort the mess out.

We also don't have much wiggle room when it comes to FFP, so I can't see us making any major signins without first getting some names off the payroll.
