The handball against Mansfield wasn't blatant. It was the kind of handball you see in every game, he didn't blatantly direct his hand to the ball Henry, Maradona or Messi-style. If anything, on the slo-mo you can see him trying to twist his body to avoid the handball. As Robbie Fowler said, if he truly meant that handball, he must be a genius to react so quickly, as he was 2 yards away, the ball rebounded towards him at pace and hits him a mili-second later. Of course his career has been full of "incidents" but still, the media go way way way over the top with him. He's called every scumbag under the sun, yet off the field he's a very polite and family-orientated man who is dedicated to his family...unlike some of the scumbags that shag prozzies behind their wives backs, shaft their brothers wives or team mates wives, as well as being out on the town fighting and smashing places up. These are just "being lads". Or what about the Marlon King's or Lee Hughes's of this world? Yet people come out with "Suarez is the biggest scumbag in the world" shite. Ronaldo got stick for his diving and rightfully so, he was ten times worse than Suarez ever has been...but it stops there, he was never called all the scumbags under the sun like Suarez is by sections of the media.
Okay I don't know all the ins and outs of Cantona and his past and for that I apologise, he is no angel clearly but being 24 it is difficult for me to remember all the incidents involving him. It has no real relation to what I'm saying though, which is about Luis Suarez and the incidents that have blighted his career. It's not a competition of who is the biggest c*nt in football ever that I'm trying to make a point of, I'm discussing Luis Suarez on his own merit and one of the reasons he has been scrutinised in the press is because of what he has done in the past, you can't just do the things he has done without developing a reputation. You can try to blame it on press and state that other players are worse all you want but you have to accept that Suarez has contributed a significant amount to the negative press that he recieves.
No one does though, that is absolute bollocks that you'vesomehow seen as gospel. We don't do the faux moral outrage toward our own player, nor would any set of fans and nor have any set of fans.
Of course the lad has contributed to it, I and no Liverpool fan denies it, but there are other players that are as bad, yet barely receive a mention. Look at Gareth Bale, every game he plays he seems to be on the floor trying to get players sent off, what do the press do? They stick up for him claiming "because he's fast he's going to get brought down". Yet the only time Suarez has truly dived this season was the woeful effort against Stoke, in a game he'd been stamped on, had a two footed tackle go unpunished and was generally kicked around the pitch, yet all the focus was on the dive....even one of the FIFA idiots got in on the act and slamming him for the dive...when he dives, there is mayhem, when other players dive there is silence. I remember a Liverpool v Man United game (last season or the season before) where Nani was on the floor (and I counted) no less than seven times trying to win pens, freekicks and cards...did he get stick the following day? Did he hell, not one media outlet mentioned it.
Take it you dont read Brian Reade in Mirror ? Did u make excuses for Ronaldo aswell? Because if you think Suarez gets kicked from pillar to post, he is practically cuddled in comparison. But bet you was up in Wigan eddy wiv your fellow plastics shouting obscenitiesvat the TV. F***ing hypocrite.
I think if the handball was intentional, we should make Suarez our goalkeeper because those kind of reflexes are amazing.
http://www.thedaisycutter.co.uk/2013/01/honest-jon-vs-luis-the-cheat/ good article on the tate of punditry in modern football, the mock outrage at incidents and the general rose tinted view the fans have that players should own up to their mistakes.
Correct. We just have to accept the fact that suarez will always be a hate figure amongst opposition fans and certain media outlets, everything he does will be magnified and talked to death over and over. There could be 10 controversial incidents in a game and you can guarantee anything suarez is involved in will top everything else, but the great thing is despite all the criticisum he recieves (some rightly so) he still keeps going, it doesnt seem to bother him and he is still one of the best players in the world, so fk um.
I just want to make sure I understand all the idiots in this thread hanging Luis out to dry. The opposing manager has said he doesn't have an issue with it and that if it was his team he would claim the goal and expect his players to, the scoring striker for the opposition has said largely the same, he would claim it and have done the same thing. But yet still Suarez gets vilified. Really makes zero sense and sort of proves the outright idiocy of fans, especially on this board in particular.
Who are you calling a hypocite? Thats rich comming from you? Do you have an original thought or opinion? Have you ever had an original thought or opinion? Or do you just sit on any Liverpool thread & utter crapola in an effort to wind folk up? If thats what turns you on so be it, but don't accuse me of being a hypocrite just for holding an opinion.
Er you. The irony in you spouting about original thoughts and winding folk up!!!! That pretty much sums up all your posts. That Eddy makes you a hypocrite. If you can't take it don't dish it out. PS If Mr.E reads this.......my humble apologies chief, you carry on posting whatever you like, as I obviously don't practice what I preach
That might be a good idea, those reflexes are no fluke as the game against Ghana in 2010 World Cup proved! I fully know that he is under more scrutiny than other players but controversy does follow him around, there is no denying that. He will most likely have this tag forever, it's just the way it is...to be honest as long as he is playing well for you and smashing in the goals, do you really give a shit? like I said before he is your Cristiano, hated by the masses but loved by his own.
They were two handballs from the same player, which both proved to be match winners. The one against Ghana just goes to show he is willing to cheat to win, as are a lot of players for that matter.
I bet you weren't cursing Michael Owen when he dived against the Argies? What Suarez did in that world cup is the same as what 50% of the worlds players would do, sacrifice his own participation in the next game to ensure they got through. Why is that handball seen with so much malice, yet if his offence was being a defender who pulled a striker down who was about to score or him being a goalie that brings a player down who is about to put the ball into an empty net, it would have been forgotten about within a week.
