Don't think it was a coincidence our worst footballing performances were against England and Northern Ireland. Think the occasion and intensity of both we struggled with. On to Belgium.. a team we didn't lose to in qualifying and looked vulnerable at times defending v Hungary but they now look very menacing go forward and stepping up a few gears now. Underdogs for this and a massive ask to beat Belgium so this could well be our final on Friday. Hope Ash plays and recovers in time.. big loss not having him in for this one.
Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Done more than enough when we reached the last 16 so this is a bonus. Just hope we give it our best shot and not look back thinking we were bloody awful.
As good as Belgium looked last night, I still see a team of EGO's and individuals, especially amongst the front players. Lukaku, Hazard and De Brunye regularly complaining, moaning and throwing arms in the air. Belgium to me are a team that when its going well, they can be outstanding. Make it hard for them and get an early goal and I don't think it will take long for their heads to go. Too many plays who are the big player at their clubs. If Wales score early I could see extra time at least, Belgium go in front they will pick you off.
I think that's a fair assessment. In our last game in Cardiff they dominated possession, but they gradually seemed to run out of ideas when we didn't buckle and I think ended-up with only 1 shot on target. If we can stand firm again early doors and not hand them the initiative by causing them a few problems on the counter if could be an interesting game, particularly if we can get in front. If they have an early success and get their tails up it could be a long night.
Even if we lose I think we can hold our heads up high to get as far as we did. I'm very proud of my home nation.
Bale got it all wrong.... He meant how many England players could get in the Iceland team ...... !!!... 0
You never know with Belgium, they have fantastic players but I don't rate their manager. If Wales can defend well then who knows? Wales have the only remaining Albion player in James Chester, so I hope he performs well as he may well be getting sold and this is a nice shop window for him.
