You 100% do it, I remember whipping round ready to defend myself stood in the away end when I heard "play up pompey" coming from behind me only to realise it was coming from a speaker.
There’s a video montage that’s played every home game in the build up to the players coming out. Part of that has crowd noise in it so guess you’re referring to that. As a regular, I have never heard crowd noise played during a game over the speakers. Our PA is so shite it would put the players off rather than help them if we did to be fair.
