I think it's a case of people saying they miss the old guard and saying "in those days it was much better" Some don't like change a lot.
I've tried watching it a few times and it's not as good, nothing to do with not liking change. You can't fake or force the dynamic they had before.
OFCOM? Tory lackies that couldn't run a piss-up in a brewery. Watch this idiot flounder under questioning about BBC 'bias' . . . Ofcom is to gain more powers over BBC online services, including the BBC News website, as part of a series of changes unveiled by the government. Under the plans, the media regulator will be able to take enforcement action if articles don't meet relevant broadcast standards. The move is intended to give audiences greater confidence that the BBC is being held to account, ministers said. The BBC said it remained "the number one source for trusted news". Ofcom said it welcomed the government's recommendations, "which will support us as we continue to hold the BBC to account on behalf of audiences". The BBC is investing more money into digital journalism, as audiences increasingly switch from television to online news. Currently, Ofcom oversees the BBC's TV, radio and on-demand output, but it has no formal enforcement powers for BBC online material. It can only issue an opinion on whether the BBC has observed editorial guidelines in its online content. But the government is now extending Ofcom's regulation to parts of the BBC's digital services. This includes to areas over which the broadcaster has editorial control, including the BBC News website and the BBC's YouTube channel. The move is part of a package of changes which are being recommended by ministers following a review of the BBC, at the halfway point of its current charter. The review looked at areas such as editorial standards and impartiality, the way the BBC handles complaints about coverage, and the effectiveness of its governance arrangements. The government consulted with the BBC and Ofcom in developing the recommendations. BBC review: Ofcom to gain more powers over BBC News website
TalkTV announced they're going fully online today. GB News are falling further and further into debt too. There's just not enough appetite for partisan news in this country. A liberal equivalent would do even worse.
I think they go on line as they are then no longer subject to any standards and can run anything they want to run the desperately slowness to regulate social media and Internet is appalling it looks to me like it will require the end of democracy or at least a major global war to have any restrictions put on the likes of twitter etc or on these types. they are wide open to and actively encourage bots and bad actors feeds that pay they very well to spout hate and bile and lies.
There's no way they survive for long online. Their core audience aren't into using computers, and if they are the competition for "everything is shit and here's why" is tremendously competitive. The problem with peddling fear is that someone is always willing to go further than you.
Just a note onto this one. Why are the local elections at least 6th down the list of headlines this morning? I went on to see what the headline was and couldn't find the results as a big splash was made of turkey
On the TV? Main headline on the website. Home - BBC News I think the BBC News have merged with BBC world or something so you do get more International coverage. Although that might be reversed it seems. BBC poised to reverse merger of news channels
I don't know. Phones usually go to bbc.com and I'm stuck on phones now. It's miles down the list under headlines such as Russians and us troops sharing a compound in Niger but they won't talk to each other.
If I type in bbc in Google it goes to BBC.com Edit. Just did a test. Typed bbc.co.uk/news in. It came up with a banner and headline I can't see otherwise but 1 second later it went straight to BBC.com so it must be geolocatijg in the settings on chrome. What browser do you use in phone?
I could turn that off yeah. I dont ever se the Samsung own browser as Google goes across platforms.easiy. I do find it interesting I'm getting such a different news feed though. I'm getting uk weapons can be used to nuke Russia headlines now. I just tested Samsung Internet and it did the same. Brought up bbc.co.uk and a second later flipped to .com version
Something must need changed in your location settings. If I have location turned off i sometimes end up on BBC world.
