Does anyone remember when there were no subs allowed by any chance. I only remember 1 sub being allowed in the late 70's and it being a real novelty seeing more during the World Cup. It increased to 2 and then 3 before the current 5.
I remember back when you could only name 3 in the Premiership. Leeds gambled and didn't name a sub keeper. Beeney got sent off in the 21st minute v Man Utd so Radebe had to go in goal for Leeds. He kept a clean sheet until Keane scored 15 mins from time to win 1-0.
i don't remember it no but i have read about it in this book my dad is!! and it must have been strange!
Anyone seen footage of the '57 Cup Final when the Villa forward flattened the United keeper and put the ball in the net for the winner? The keeper was wrecked and United couldn't bring n a sub. No way that challenge would be allowed now.
What about in '58 when Lofthouse did it...? last time we won the FA Cup that.....if only I was alive then!!
I only remember 1 sub being allowed in the late 70's and it being a real novelty seeing more during the World Cup. How old are you, you grey haired, fat arsed, floppy dicked gerriatric?
The first substitute used in English League football was Keith Peacock of Charlton on August 21st 1965 against Bolton at Burnden Park. After 13 minutes 'keeper Mike Rose was injured, Peacock came on and John Hewie went in goal. Charlton lost 4-2.
