Ours was this time two (bloody) years ago. Spent NYE in Dusseldorf and had the best time. Really great place.

The promenade below was full of thousands of people randomly letting off fireworks and drinking bottles of champagne at midnight. Had a very similar experience in Amsterdam a couple of years earlier as well. Loons everywhere, but both were magical.

    Here's to more soon :hopefully

Mid-December went to New York/New Jersey to see a friend and see another friend play a gig. Should be heading out to the States again in March for a few weeks.

Got my eyes on going to Estonia. Might do Tallinn, Helsinki and then St. Petersburg in one trip. My brother told me that you can go from Helsinki to St. Petersburg for 72 hours without a visa.

February last year. We went to Tasmania for a week. I cannot recommend that place enough, absolutely magical.

If returning to the UK can be classed as a foreign holiday, then 2 years ago. If not 3 years ago.

October 2019, we'd been abroad for a fortnight 4 times in the 12 months before that, no idea when we'll go again. I had 2 weeks in Spain booked for end of May but cancelled, losing my deposit. :(

July 2017 to the States. I've had a few trips within the UK and Ireland since then, but since the start of Covid, it has literally been a few days in Malahide, and that's it.

I wouldn't take it as gospel but I've definitely seen the same regarding Helsinki to St Petersburg elsewhere, learning you could do that 72 hour non-visa trip was a nice surprise. Something in my mind to do at some point, along with Tallinn. I loved Helsinki but I grew up living with a Finnish grandparent so not sure if that bias clouded my judgment too much.

As for my own last foreign holiday. I was in the US for Thanksgiving and I'll be going back around March / April. I haven't traveled as much as I ordinarily would do but I've still squeezed in a few overseas trips during Covid (Gibraltar Oct 2020, Ireland Sep 2021, Washington State Nov/Dec 2021).

Tenerife in November 2021, after having a few cancelled over the last 2 years. Prior to that it was Tenerife end of February 2020, just before this nightmare kicked off.

We have Benidorm booked for end of April for my daughter in law’s 30th birthday. Will see what the rules are like closer to the time.

We’ve also got Spain booked with my daughter and granddaughters for June. It was originally booked for June 2020, moved to August 2021 and then moved again to June 2022. My eldest granddaughter was 4 when we first booked, she’ll be 7 when we (hopefully) travel.

Travelling is the thing I’ve most missed in all this.

We've decided to try and make the most of the enforced break and put £60 a month into a holiday savings account so we can go to the 2026 World Cup in the US. Thinking of renting a cabin in the Colorado mountains and trying to get to some games in Denver.

My wife isn't remotely into football but loves America so it was quite an easy sell

Hopefully we'll get a couple of beach holidays in before then as well. Miss the Greek islands massively.

Someone told me the other day that the Spanish government have introduced laws on all-inclusive holidays. I'm told that people on all-inclusive deals are now only allowed 3 alcoholic drinks during the day and a further 3 in the evening? This sounds like an April fools joke to me, but of course it isn't April?

Japan in March 2019. Can't believe it's been 3 years already, feels like yesterday!

People only go to those places because of the drink. If they were sober they would realise how most spanish resorts are complete holes.

If it's all the same to you I love the Balearics, especially Majorca, and I always go to adult only all inclusive 4 or 5 star hotels, none of which have ever been 'holes'.

As far as Im aware its currently only the Magaluf and Arenal zones where this is coming into effect. They did a similar thing last season in Magaluf and drew a wierd line to indicate the zone it was being applied to. Amazingly enough the meandering line made sure certain hotel chains (biggest brown envelopes) werent included in the "3 drinks area" however
