Only came on to post about my trip to Rome and didn’t realise the thread had been locked Really beautiful place and I know that coronavirus is bad but it worked a treat for me.. 90% of people have cancelled their holidays to Italy so literally didn’t have to queue once to get into the colosseum, Vatican museum etc. Was far less busy then what I expected even with it being February. Not an expensive place either, had dinners for about £35 for two people, one night it was £15 for two mains and half a litre of wine! Anyway, that’s one trip to Portugal done and Rome. Got another few trips back to Portugal planned, Hamburg in May and should be going over to Vietnam to see my brother in September and stop in Kuala Lumpur for a few days on the way back
Lisbon & Porto next week. Then two weeks in California in April. Flying in/out of San Diego, driving all the way up and all the way back down.
Was Dominican Republic in June and Normandy in France in August. Now, probably nowhere . British Grand Prix probably won't happen either.
Just booked Bilbao from 5th to 11th November. Flights were £85 return for 2 of us with BA so I can't turn that down. Hotel is right by Athletic Bilbao's Stadium so let's hope there's a home game to go to then.
Bilbao is a fab place. Went there on a long weekend a couple of years ago and stayed at the Melia. The Bilbao team were staying in the hotel that weekend too when they played Ostersunds in the europa and was weird them all lining up alond side the guests in reception waiting for the bus with hundreds of fans just outside the reception doors. Picked up tickets for the game no problem. Lovely stadium too. Food is awesome in Bilbao and reasonably priced. We did the Azurmendi restaurant as a treat too which is amazing. Not the cheapest of restuarants but an incredible experience. The Gugenheim is fantastic as well. For me its more of a long weekend place but if you like looking around and exploring you'll love it.
Meant to be Marbella, Lagos and maybe New York but Marbella is definitely cancelled, Lagos is in August so I'm hopeful but who knows, and New York I'll wait until next year now I think.
We booked Spain with the kids in August. Not doing anything yet, see how we are guided . I was so looking forward to It with the little ones but, in the grand scheme of things, it’s not important
I was meant to be in Palestine right now after being in Bulgaria but coronavirus had put an end to all of that... Over the summer, depending on how things with ol covid go, I'll either be going to: 1. Mexico & Cuba 2. Russia, Uzbekistan & all the other 'Stan' ex Soviet countries if not.. I'll just relax at home until further notice I guess....
haha oddly enough, sometimes (depending on the length of the trip of course) the further you go the cheaper and more exciting the holiday is! For example over christmas I saw Ukraine / Armenia / Georgia / Azerbaijan and it worked out to be so cheap that I came back WAY over budget! I spent more money on 2 drinks in Milan in my stopover than I did in 2 days buying food in any of those places.
Off to Serbia on Friday, been many times before though, best friend lives there with his family so visiting them. Will stay in Belgrade for a week before heading north to Novi Sad; and then back down south to Nis. Never been to Albania so may spend some time there, and November time plans to fly to Brazil.
I shelved Bilbao so only a week at Camber Sands for me this year. Got Malta, Krakow and Warsaw booked for next year though.
Got drunk last night and booked Stockholm in February- questionable choice to book holidays while under the influence, but I am very excited to visit.
I may be off to Stockholm next weekend, but waiting until the very last minute to book. Sweden seems like the one country that is pretty relaxed about all of this
