Pele's record you've included includes friendlies, youth matches and charity matches too, which are ridiculous to count. If he played 1368 matches, that means he would've played more competitive matches than Peter Shilton, ffs! We should just include league goals to keep this constant so Pele got 511 in 502 games at a ratio of 1.02. He scored nowhere near 1000 competitive goals, the media just wanted to create the fact he got 1000 goals so added meaningless games to his tally list. In reality he only got 767 competitive goals and that includes International goals too.
also there is a guy in the premiership doing pretty well called Jason Scotland who played in scottish first division at one point and hardly set it alight. yet he's doing not bad in england. People like you would say an average scottish first division striker wouldn't make it in england because the SD1 is so poor, because you judge players by the league they play in. Same shit was said about Larsson and how good he was in SPL and he went on to win 2 la ligas and champions league. ripping arsenals defense apart with 2 great passes in the final. but same shit was said.
cheers mate i didn't know that. I'll change it. Im doing overall in competetive games not just league.
JAson Scotland has been crap in the premier league ask any Wigan fan. And im not Saying anything about Larrson because again he proved himself at the highest level.
thats why im saying give him a chance to prove it. so far this is his ratio which is great. also there have been many great players to come out of holland so to say their league is poor is an insult. Cruyff, Van Basten, Van Der Vaart, Van Nistelrooy, Sneijder, Kluivert, Bergkamp, Ruud Gullit, Van Der Saar, Van Bommell, Van Persie, Robben, De Boer brothers, Cocu, Seedorf, Overmars etc
If it's competitive overall then Pele got 767 goals in 831 games then at a ratio of 0.93 Josef Bican's is 805 goals in 530 games at a ratio 1.52(!) Gerd Muller's was 735 goals in 793 games at a ratio 0f 0.93 Ferenc Puskas' was 754 goals in 746 games at a ratio of 1.01 Romario has 772 goals in 994 games at a ratio of 0.77
Good players have come out of the Scottish league as well in the past ,however if I say the Scottish league is poor is it an insult? All im saying his record cant be compared yet to the likes of Ronaldo,HEnry,RVN etc etc.
I never said he's setting it alight however he must have done something right to get a move there. From first division scotland to the greatest league in world, you would think nobody would even sign him. Yet he's there playing Steven Fletcher, Craig Gordon, Alan Hutton, McFadden, Russell Anderson, Gary O'Conner, Brian Easton, Kevin McDonald all from this spl shit league to play there also how many unheard of players made it in england C Ronaldo from half decent league, Van Nistelrooy, Cantona list goes on the point is you cant judge a player by the league he plays in. some players do suit different leagues and cant settle in certain ones. Tore Andre Flo played for Chelsea yet couldn't score in a barrel of fannys Chris Sutton couldn't get a game for chelsea yet scored and played class for Celtic. Sutton is proof that some players suit other teams as well since he done well at Blackburn too yet couldn't do it at chelsea
well the thread I started said best goal ratio Not best overall player in best overall league So yes they can be compared
Even if this was true, which it isn't as Austria and Czeckoslavakia were 2 of Europe's footballing giants in the 30's and 40's and 2 of the first European countires where football had such a huge national influence. This would also mean he played with equally crap players so would have to basically harbour all these goals for himself. Besides this guy also played in the "Austrian Wunderteam" by the age of 19, which is one of the greatest and most acclaimed International sides of all-time. And why does this matter anyway? This is simply a list of the players with the highest goals to games rario, it was even asked in the OP if anyone knew of any lesser known players had good ones.
I was just looking for a list of the top goalscorers in football googled it and got linked to that page I linked before. Quite remarkable both him and Peyroteo aren't well known, but then any players before WWII don't tend to be.
Didn't Van Nistlerooy score a lot of penalties too? Don't think it's fair to leave Shearer out on that basis.
Yes that's what i was thinking he did score alot during the war however 300 and something goals in just under 200 games is unreal at any level.
But Van Nistelrooy only scored a couple of penalties (10-20), Shearer scored 60-70 penalties, that's why I left out Shearer. Tbh, Andrew Cole had an even more outstanding goal-scoring ratio than Shearer if you don't include penalties.
