Mine 1. 360 Challenge Stradale 2. F430 Scuderia 3. F50 Proper Ferrari's. Ferrari's that stay true to their origins, what you expect a Ferrari should be like basically. I have driven a normal F430 and a 355 round Thruxton Racetrack in Wiltshire.
250GT SWB California Spider. 365GTS/4. 250GT Lusso. Proper proper Ferraris' - smelling hot'n'faintly oily when thrashed, looking teh sehx even when parked.
1. Original GTO (not a better looking car on the planet). 2. F40 3. California Love the older Ferrari's.

With F40's I can appreciate they are fast (in a straight line at least) and have bags of character, however Ferrari's are supposed to be Naturally Aspirated and these are Turbo'd. I dont feel as If Ferrari actually wanted to do a Turbo'd Super Car, but more so that back then in that era it was the lastest craze and really ' cool ' for car manufactures to bring out Turbocharged petrol cars. Other things that put me off are that it's not exactly an elegant or beautiful car (tons of road presence however) and things like one thin layer of red paint, green glue etc etc, it's not what you expect (or IMO want) from a Ferrari Supercar. Now if The English Dictionary did photo's then under the word SUPERCAR it would have a photo of an F50 as that etipomises what a true supercar is all about. NA V12, massive rear spoiler, curves, low, wide etc etc. Unfortunatly it's also a car that you'd expect an Arab sheek to own in Dubai.
Mmm, I never liked the F40 - fugly, tbh, not a classic line on it...in fact, I reckon it looks like a kit car.
Anyway, here is a pic of my fave Ferrari the 360 Challenge Stadale. Some old Ferrari's are too raw and too basic, some of the new ones have too much science/maths/technology which takes away the driving experience from the driver. This though is perfection in every way.
The Italia shits on this IMO and the F40 was from an era where turbos were the in thing. I think the F40 was the first production car to hit 200mph wasn't it? It was ahead of it's time an an iconic breakthrough IMO.
For me the 458 is too curvy. I like curves but not OTT. Take off the Ferrari badge and pretend you knew nothing about it and would you know who made the 458? Whereas with the 360 anyone could tell straight away it's a Ferrari even when not in red. Also does the 458 have lashings of genuine carbon fibre for the interior? Or carbon ceramic breaks like the CS has? Is it as light and as high revving? I don't actually know without checking. Overall, If we are generalizing/stereotyping then to me the 458 is a flashy ' look at me everyone I have a sexy new Ferrari! ' type car, whereas the 360 is for firstly someone who loves a true Ferrari and secondly a proper driving enthusiast with petrol for blood. Basically Im Saying the 458 tries too hard to show off where the 360 is a born track car winner. I don't like any turbo charged petrol cars tbh as it's quite a crude and also lazy way of getting extra power. Turbo lag, DET, waiting for it to spool up and then dump a load of boost down the inlets neck, ERM no thanks not for me. And you said it yourself Shane, Ferrari made a Turbo'd Ferrari no because they actually wanted to but more because of supply and demand plus not wanting to feel left out as just about every car manufacturer back then were doing turbo'd petrol cars. It's just too raw and too basic for me to like it as a Ferrari. Sure it looks like a supercar from the outside but not from the inside it doesn't.
Excluding some of the new ones like the new Carlifonia Ferrari have always made the best Super Cars haven't they? I mean no other car manufacturer comes close to them. All the Gallardo's (the many different variations) are basically Audi's on steroids and a bit lame by Lamborghini's standards. The older ones like the Diablo and Countash are suppoisdly very hard and awkward to drive. It's all about mid or rear engined RWD for me, 4X4 is boring and takes the fun away from driving, anyone could get in an AWD car and drive it fast but you actually need to think about what your doing in a RWD car, get it right and it's a fantastic experience. That's what I love about Ferrari's, most of them are not heavy (unlike Merc's and Lambo's) and most of them have a small amount of oversteer which is a good thing. Has anyone seen the new 2017 Lotus Elan? Was supposed to come out in 2013 but they decided to go with the Evora for 2013 instead. The new Elan will be a 4L NA mid engined V8 and RWD. Lotus are basically going for are real all-rounder here, a car that is ideal for both the track and your country B roads whilst being smooth and refined enough to use as a daily motorway cruiser. I think they look amazing myself. What do you guys think?
But that's the beautiful thing about the F40. It's not the best looking, it comes from an era where turbo's were cool and inside it's as basic as it gets but to me (and I've been a passenger in one) it just seems like it's been made with pure (forgive the top gear Ferrari cliche) passion. It was faster than anything on the road at the time and paved the way for the next generation of supercar. No one I. Those days thought a production car would actually hit 200mph yet it does it with a 3 litre v8!!! Loved them and they sounded awesome!! The 360 has a smaller engine than the 458, a slower 0-62, a slower top speed, is slower around a track, doesn't look as good, doesn't have as sophisticated suspension, produces less power, less torque, red lines at 8500rpm where as the 458 is at 9000rpm and has a poorer power to weight ratio. Also, yes it does have carbon ceramic brakes. You'll not find a new Ferrari without them. The 458 is better in every way. Infact the only area which the 360 out trumps the 458 is weight yet the 458 produces so much more torque along the rev range it becomes irrelevant.
There at 3 types Shane 360 Modena Modena F1 (which I dont even think is road legal?) 360 Challenge Stradale Although seeing as the 458 is faster than the Modena F1 I'm sure it will also be faster than the CS. Both cars would need to be in race mode though. Would love to have a go in a 458 but for me the CS will always be the most iconic/desirable. The thing is, I bet the 458 has masses of computer based automotive science/technology going on where the car is doing half the driving. I'm not really into that, but I'm also not keen on the older supercars which are a real handfull and too basic. The 360 CS is your happy medium, the best of both worlds!
On the motorway I saw a limo Ferrari was one of the stupidest things I ever saw. Must have been a kit. No one's buying one to rip it up and weld s big stretch of seats and space into the middle.
