I'll start this, my first match thread of the season in the hope it might herald a change.

I still have an issue with our manager regarding his inability to see or alter what for me is our glaring defensive weakness. I can't remember a time since our return to the PL when we have looked so susceptible and disorganised at the back. With that in mind I'd like to see the following team.

    Kasper
    Soyu* Evans Maguire
    Pereira Iborra Ndidi Chilwell
    Iheanacho Vardy Maddison

    * according to the Mercury Soyu hasn't been that impressive in his development games so far, I'd still like to see him being given ago, but also wouldn't be averse to Fuch coming in as the left sided cb.

I'd take a 0-0 bore draw and a return to the days when we were hard to score against. In fact I'd take anything other than a tonking.

    We don't do draws.
Optimist 2-1 to us, pessimist 4-0 Arsenal, realist 3-1 Gunners.

Well it's about time we bloody well did, particularly the 0-0 variety.

We're far from being a comfortable version of what we want to be. We're relying on the saves of our goalkeeper and the finishing abilities of our strikers. Systematically, we're not quite there yet going forward or defending. I wouldn't be surprised if we come unstuck against Leicester. We can't keep playing like that and getting wins. I think Cech comes back in for Leno if he's fit.

    Cech
    Bellerin Mustafi Sokratis Monreal
    Torreira Xhaka
    Ozil Ramsey Aubameyang
    Lacazette

Plenty of competition for places. Iwobi, Holding and Mkhitaryan all have decent claims to start.

    Kasper

    Amartey Evans Maguire Chilwell

    Mendy NDidi

    Ricardo Maddison Ghezzal

    Vardy
Gray being out and Albrighton being about as useful as a chocolate fireguard when he starts is an issue, shame NDukwu got injured as he was impressive in pre season and may have got a chance while Gray recovered and Diabate is simply not up to prem standard yet, getting Barnes back in January and Diabate going on loan is a must, we aren't going to change formation so why bother suggesting it.

Soyuncu was apparently impressive for Turkey during the break and Puel mentioned him after the Everton match so he may well start, once he's in he will stay in

Schmeichel is playing a little too far to the right there for my liking.

Think you might have the team nailed. Give WBA Diabate when taking Barnes back, I'm pretty sure in the Championship they wouldn't grumble about that too much as he's too good for that league for sure.

Then at least you can then turn your dislike for the manager on not scoring enough goals.

Puel has said Soyuncu is ready to play for us. So should at least make the squad.

Just me amused by this?

Always much better when your strikers are scoring and keepers are keeping them out :D

    Yeah all good thanks mate.
    I have to ask you.
You honestly want Fuchs in front of young Ben Chilwell?

No he wants Fuchs in a back 3 as a cb which we did on the odd occasion before when we had to.

Not sure why going to a back 3 is daft when our defence is so poor, but each to their own.

a back 3 isn't some magic wand that will solve our defense and even if we went to it playing an immobile full back as part of it is daft

And sticking with a system with players not up to the job is equally as daft. I just want to see us at least try to address it. As for Fuch I did say I'd prefer Soyu.
