Perhaps equals but can't suggest edges. Influenced by seeing George doing it live with Buddy Leach on saxophone in 2013.
Written in 1962 by Marvin Gaye and a couple of other blokes I can’t remember the names of, a fella who used to be in a band called The Equals grabbed hold of the song nearly two decades later and made quite the hit of it.
After Cash's cover of Hurt this is my second favourite ever. Opened their set at Heaton Park with this a few weeks ago and it went down a storm.
I like AW, but this is just a singalong karaoke version. Cover versions should offer something different....like those below. Tom Jones & the Cardigans - Burning Down the House Cash - Hurt - Best cover ever? Futureheads - Hounds of Love I can see clearly now - Hothouse Flowers
Possibly controversial as if I am honest I am not sure this is better than the original but I really like this version
Yeah, likely. Elbow did a very clever version of WCH but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I think it was on a compilation CD that came free with a magazine about three million years ago
No. My weapon of choice by Elbow would be Newborn, which is probably my favourite track in the whole world and beyond
A few that come to mind David Watts- The Jam While my guitar gently weeps- I think the Jeff Healey cover of this is actually the best Hurdy Gurdy Man- The Butthole Surfers. This song is weird but the guitar and the last half of this song when it kicks in is amazing Les Fleurs- 4Hero
That has got to be a red card offence? The Beatles version is blue steel, no one can scratch that surely?
Fair play naz, it’s what makes the world go round. I personally think The White Album is a disaster area whereas another poster on here thinks it’s some of the bands’ best work, but there again that poster is a Villa fan so.....
