Congratulations. A question about Martinez, he’s been kicking around at Arsenal for a decade, yet each time I’ve seen him play he’s looked excellent, what’s the craic? How come he’s never seen proper game time before? Is he going to be your #1 now?
No idea. Some say he'll use this spell to get first choice at another club. Some say he'll displace Leno. Others say he'll go back to being second choice and playing a few cup games.
If he doesn’t retain the number 1 spot he should leave. It’s been his ambition to be Arsenals number 1 all this time and after a decade waiting for his opportunity and not putting a foot wrong really means if they don’t keep him in the first 11, he’ll never get it. If this is the audition, and he’s nailed it, if he doesn’t get the part he needs to move on.
