Oh ok fair enough! Ofcourse this is F1 so no doubt in a few weeks the teams will want to pull out again.
No mention of qualifying at all? Interesting to see vettel up front, though expected to pit two laps before button. Mclaren are shit, and encouraging signs from toyota and bmw
I was pissing myself during qualification. Before the session Hamilton said; and then he didn't even make Quali 2 Vettel really looks the part this season but I can't see anyone beating Button to the championship
Is it wrong that I thought it was hilarious watching Humphey's almost get run over by a Toyota live on TV!?
Indeed. Brilliant that we have another British driver looking like a World Champion, but this season is as uncompetitive as any before it, just the cars at the front have changed.
Not a bad race at all today Superb win for Butts, great racing in the middle, Brawns look superb on the Quali and race day. Bring on Silverstone
I have a bit of an issue with it, in that I expect them to be racing? Last season we had the McLaren/Ferrari battles, this season Braun are virtually unopposed.
So it is the responsibility of the chasing pack to catch up you cannot blame Brawn for being superior, they cant go building a sub-standard car just to appease F1 fans
If you take away the earlier diffuser issues, Braun haven't been that far in front. The new regulations have thrown a lot of big teams. Look at the qualifying times; Position Country Driver Car number Team Qualifying time 1 germany Sebastian Vettel 15 Red Bull-Renault 1:28.316 2 great britain Jenson Button 22 Brawn-Mercedes 1:28.421 3 brazil Rubens Barrichello 23 Brawn-Mercedes 1:28.579 4 australia Mark Webber 14 Red Bull-Renault 1:28.613 5 italy Jarno Trulli 9 Toyota 1:28.666 6 finland Kimi Raikkonen 4 Ferrari 1:28.815 7 brazil Felipe Massa 3 Ferrari 1:28.858 8 spain Fernando Alonso 7 Renault 1:29.075 9 germany Nico Rosberg 16 Williams-Toyota 1:29.191 10 poland Robert Kubica 5 BMW Sauber 1:29.357 That's pretty close. There was some great stuff on show today, especially Barrichello trying to force his way through. Button is in a class of his own right now. His confidence is through the roof now he has a car that performs.
I'm not really bothered about what team is superior, as long as it's not Ferrari , I just watch F1 to see some racing in what is supposedly the pinnacle of motorsport. The only entertainment in today's race was provided by Barrichello.
Hindsights a wonderfull thing isn't it. Many on here were beggin for change at the front as it wasn't very competitive. We have the change, and its even less competetive. Pretty boring to watch, as it's not even been close at the front.
You are never going to get much wheel to wheel racing with F1 cars, as Martin Brundle rightly states, these cars are designed so wide and aerodynamically so advanced that when a car gets within a second behind another car, the dirty air makes overtaking very difficult. Case in point was Vettel catching up Button 8 tenths a lap, then when he gets within a second of him he can't really get much closer without risking a dangerous overtaking manoeuver. The other problem is that F1 cars are so fragile that almost any contact with another driver can ruin a race. If you are after wheel to wheel motor racing, watch World Touring Cars or British Touring Cars. F1 is about technology + driver ability. LOL @ David Coulthard on the pitwalk...."So what do you call it Jenson?" Brundle :- "Err,....I think we shouldn't say that live on the BBC David..."
It's getting as bad as it was in the Schumacher/Ferrari days. F1 has improved massively in the last couple of 3/4 years where we've had two teams challenging for the titel (Ferrari/Mclaren, Ferrari/Renault). Having Jenson trouncing the rest of the opposition is getting boring, but like Coulthard said at least it's a lot more interesting when it's a British driver doing it. I'm really pleased for Jenson though as it's great to see a drivers fortunes take such a drastic turn for the good like this. And i'd love to see him win the British GP.
