A very entertaining match for the fans who turned up last night. Bristol ran out worthy 4-2 winners with Fulham loanee Smith getting all four for City and Cody McDonald scoring both for Gills. But the point of this post is to mention the appalling standard of refereeing by Andy D'urso. How on earth he keeps his badge is a total mystery. Not sour grapes or anything because City deserved the victory but Jesus, surely the FA can do better than that muppet. He didn't give fouls that were. Did gives fouls that clearly weren't and booked players for seemingly nothing. I don't know if they still have watchers in the stand at all matches but this guy deserved about a 1 mark for turning up.
Baffling how he is still on the league list. Been one of the worst around for years. Standard overall is the lowest I can ever remember mind.
It was always going to be a tough ask as Bristol City are a much better Team. For me the tie is over,we just need to make sure the aggregate score does not get embarrassing.I`m pleased Cody is back firing,he usually does better after Christmas.
2nd leg on sky, but where the hell has the logic for the game to be played on a Thursday come from?! Means we have to play Thursday evening and Saturday 3pm, even teams in the Europa league have their weekend game on a Sunday. Why not just play the JPT game on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Nothing been confirmed for our game against Fleetwood, still down as 3pm Saturday 31st Jan. Could be that Fleetwood don't want the game moved in which case Sky would have screwed us over. Preston v Walsall was on a Wednesday, our game with Gillingham was on a Tuesday, why the heck is this on a Thursday?
Just looked up the Sky Sports schedule, we've been shunted onto the Thursday because the league cup games are on Tuesday and Wednesday, if our game against Fleetwood isn't moved I'd rather us just not be on TV and play on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Fleetwood would have to agree to the move, and like us against MK the following week, they wont be having that. Just the way it goes. Cant seeing it being a major problem.
They're professional ****ing footballers. If they can't play twice in 2 days then they may as well give up.
Agree - especially given that, as far as I can see, League One times were shy of a game over Christmas. I had no idea why there were no games on NY Day. Most teams played the Saturday before Christmas; Boxing Day; Saturday after Christmas; then the following Saturday - 4 games in 14 days is very light fot the Christmas period. Our game v Walsall away has now been moved to 6pm on Sunday evening, because of the poxy JPT dead rubber being on Sky, which is a huge inconvenience for away fans, some of our fans had already booked train tickets, so in short, it's the fans that suffer rather than the players (not that it's suffering to have to play football).
Easy to say when you're either not involved or already have your game moved. cpd if your game hadn't been moved and was still on Saturday and you lost due to clear signs of fatigue would you be annoyed? The whole reason we are playing on Thursday is because of league cup games on Tuesday/Wednesday. My point was any club in the europa league has their game moved to Sunday, but unless something gets announced (and its strange an announcement would take so long if its coming) we don't get the same treatment. Considering we are running our squad on bare mimimum and are now expected to play 2 games in a shorter time than the 2 games after boxing day if our league game remained on Saturday I'd rather we just told Sky to bugger off than be on Thursday, apparently we get £10k or similar from it, not sure how much we charge for JPT tickets but say its £20 all you need is for 500 people to not come and you've lost that money anyway. So Sky's money doesn't do a lot for us anyway.
