On July 18th, Norwich are set to tour the United States and I'm pleased to say, I'll be hopefully watching them on July 18th here in Sacramento, although their opponents are still unknown.

This will mark the first time in history that an English Premier team has played in the Californian city. The venue will actually be at the baseball arena, which is a surprise because I wonder just how they plan to put a football pitch to replace the existing diamond.

I'm hoping the Canaries put out a decent squad for the fixture and I'll keep you posted, with future photos when the game is played.

Norwich City’s tour to the US has been organized by PSC Ltd and First Wave Sports who have in recent years, been involved in organizing American pre-season tours for numerous other EPL teams such as Everton, Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City.

San Jose Earthquakes and Portland Timbers.

Darren Huckerby's last club was San Jose.

Ah I remember we almost signed him... but something went wrong and we traded his rights to San Jose. Odd league, MLS. :D

Glad to see more English teams coming for tours on this side of the pond.

The team to play Norwich in Sacramento are no surprise from the Mexican First Division!!!

I had an idea it would be since the Californian capital has a large minority of Mexicans and lets fact it, half of the soccer fans in the U.S are descended from that country.

I'd like to see one come to Pittsburgh. Portland have a good atmosphere and solid team, that could be fun to watch.

Makes sense to have a Mexican team if the game is in Sacramento. There aren't a lot of Hispanics where I'm from, but I've noticed a good number of people wearing football clothes are from the Mid and Far East, usually all United fans too.

An English team is supposed to come to Pittsburgh in July.

At home, I believe. I would go too. I imagine it will be anything but 'friendly'

Ridiculous idea, when have you ever heard of two local rivals playing a friendly?

We've absolutely nothing to gain from playing them so I've no doubt it's just another way for the club to get money from fans' pockets.

Not having a dig at Norwich but all through the season managers are complaining at the amount of games played,
then when the season ends they go on tour.
Surely all the tired and weary players need a rest, not more games.:rolleyes

To be fair, the season would've been finished for 2 months before we go on the tour. I can't get it though when some clubs do it in the middle of the season (I think Fulham did so this year)

I reckon 2 legs against Ipswich would be good home and away with a trophy. It would generate a big crowd and decent gate receipts for both sides.

Agree, stupid. We all know what they do it for though (£$£$£$£$£$).

Gate receipts shouldn't even come into it, we have 19 games at Carrow Road next season to get good crowds in. Utterly ridiculous that we should be playing our biggest rivals in a meaningless game before the season starts - if we go down or Ipswich go up then we'll play them next season, what's the rush to do it this summer?

You answered your own question Dion, it's all about the £$£$£$£$.
