Can't imagine Stoke will be putting out much of a side for this considering they play Arsenal tomorrow, which gives us an opportunity I think. Got my ticket the other day and am quite looking forward to it after our start to the season - despite my lack of enthusiasm on the day of the draw.
Tony Pulis has generally gone for a fringe side in the early rounds. I'd imagine something like the below, give or take Thomas Sorensen Andy Wilkinson / Matthew Upson / Danny Higginbotham / Marc Wilson Ryan Shotton / Wilson Palacios / Rory Delap / Jamie Ness Cameron Jerome / Kenwyne Jones As expected not much interest in this one in terms of ticket sales so far. Personally I've always enjoyed the cup games against teams we haven't played in a while, especially the away trips - 11 years since we last played Swindon in the old (not old, old) Nationwide Division Two.
Great result, well done. Funny watching Di Canio on the final whistle, he was walking around the pitch, shaking Swindon players hands then giving them what looked like a slap across the face, he then turned to the ref and shook his hand...I was half expecting/wanting him to slap the referee
Football Wins! What a game. Missed a trick not putting that on the telly. Best footballing side on the planet. Bring on anyone - I'd fancy our chances against Barcelona. Bring on the world. Di Canio's circus goes on...
what a cracking win!!, stoke had upson, crouch, pennant, kenwyne jones etc, etc. i do like di canio, the passion and motavational assets he's got,he was great at west ham, he's even got a west ham tattoo, but what he has done at swindon is fantastic, not much experience in management but he got them promoted and now they produce fighting spirit to defeat stoke. what an interesting clash that would be.......DI CANIO V LAUDRUP don't forget di canio played for some good teams, was skilful, technically very good, and scored some wicked goals, especiall y the one against wimbledon, the jumping volley from outside of the 12 yard box, stunner! voted the top goal for that season. then add his passion and commitment and the fact that he's a fiery Italian, and hey presto! i think he would do a better job than fat sam!! now that would be interesting!
bloody well done crawley! thats got to be up there with swindons win, don't like bolton, they speak in a strange dialect! difficult to work out, i think french is easier to learn.
Nope - he's ****ing brilliant. Best thing to happen to our club in ****ing decades. Paolo had installed a great ethos at our club. Hard work, determination, passion, commitment, desire - you dont have the right attitude you get kicked out the door, no matter who you are. He has our team playing like he did - good football but such a strong desire to win. Whilst in truth im disappointed we didnt kill the game off and let Stoke back into it - the good football, never say die attitude and superior fitness never waned. We went for it to the end and I expect the players still have some left in the tank. Coming back for pre-season before everyone else and doing double session works in our favour. Great win, extra time, day off tomorrow. Nope.
