Another trip to Manchester see's us facing the Champions this week at Old Trafford.

Not a happy hunting ground for us, but, I think there were more positive's to take out of the Man City game than negatives, so I expect us to give 110% again this week.

I am going to be optimistic again and call a 1 - 1 draw.

    Thoughts ?

£1 a pint at The Vault apparently mate during the match. I know it's a bit of a dive, but you can't grumble at a quid a pint.

I'd agree. We're looking more solid at the back but pedestrian up front, and no matter what midfield combination Ferguson picks it always looks porous and lacking in creativity. Could be a very tight game.

Where's Cheike Tiote? Thought he was going to be fit.

Saw most of the game - here are my marks:

Tim Krul Man of the match 10/10
Danny Simpson - excellent game, superb save on the line - 9/10
    Steven Taylor - 8/10
    Fabricio Coloccini - 8/10
    Ryan Taylor - 8/10
    Obertan 7/10
    Cabaye 7/10
    Guthrie 8/10
    Ben Arfa - pen assist - 8/10
Gutierrez - great, but too many poor tackles - 7/10
    Denba Ba - 7/10

Subs - Sammy - 3/10 - next to useless. Didn't try hard enough to keep or win back possession.
Perch - we didn't conceed with him on but I didn't notice any tackles won by him.
Lovenkrands - didn't actually see him do anything

Great performance by Newcastle what a keeper you have in Tim Krul.

Good perfomance by defence, some of the midfield and forward lads didn't quite get up to speed.
Sublime performance by Dutch Tim, Simpson best performance yet. Makes a pleasant change to see an ex-Man U lad not ending up performing for Man Yoo against the team he's supposed to be playing for, and looking to Ferguson for approval.

And Man Yoo have never.....shall we say.....assisted the ref in deciding FOR them ?
    Be honest now.

I've seen United players dive for penalties many times. I wouldn't have the brass neck to call their diving 'assists' though, because I don't like cheating even when United players do it.

Couldn't agree more that it wasn't a pen, by the way - but the ranting and cross examinations on the BBC are a bit beyond the pale. All pretensions of non bias have gone up in a puff of smoke. John Murray (Teesider) being the only one reporting properly.

    One word - Ronaldo.
And the daft thing is - he didn't NEED to do it, which makes it ten times worse.
By the way, the initial comment was tongue in cheek - meant to be amusing.

I'll tell you something else, you can't name a single incident where a Ronaldo dive got United a penalty, or a Ronaldo "assist" as it's apparently known in you part of the world.

I'm not a Man U fan so no.
I'll give you a statistic though - SEVEN pens given against Man U at OT - in ELEVEN seasons.
    Says it all.

Good edit of the last post by the way. Thanks.

Five years in the making, since his debut in Palermo. Back then you could see he was going to be something special, and it's great to see that he's finally got his chance.

I make no apologies for calling Ben Arfa's input an assist. The fact is he won a penalty, because it was given by the officials (and yes, I would have been gutted to be on the receiving end of that decision).

Stret - I hope you're not suggesting Ben Arfa dived to get a pen today. None of us want cheating in the game.
