mine was when arsenal beat us at Wembley Cup Final in 1952, although my dad did take me earlier, but I don’t recall them What’s your first game?
I don't know for sure. My first season was 1975 when United were in the 2nd division. I've told this tale before, but my best mate since school is convinced we were at the infamous Denis Law backheel game at the end of the '74 season, when he didn't actually relegate United, but I know for a fact I wasn't there. The first game I definitely was at was when we beat Sheff United 5 - 1 at the start of the '75 season, so that's probably my first ever game. https://www.11v11.com/matches/manchester-united-v-sheffield-united-23-august-1975-83044/
Mine was also against Arsenal, in 1992. We lost 1-2 with Paul Merson and Ian Wright scoring their goals. Eddie McGoldrick got ours (and then signed for Arsenal as well). Looking back it was a pretty decent game to go to!
Was a Christmas present and my uncle took me. Steve Thompson missed a pen for us. We got relegated that season. Can't believe it was so long ago.
Wycombe v Peterborough in the autumn of 2003. Lost 1-2 in injury time. I’d been following the club on the radio the season before, and this was the first time I went to a game. I was hooked from there, even though we were complete shit and lost nearly every game. Edit: we signed Matt Bloomfield a couple of months after this, and he still plays for Wycombe (although he’s now lost his place In the team). Bloomfield has played for Wycombe almost as long as I’ve supported them.
Brighton 2 Leyton Orient 0 - 19th March 1994. An on loan Paul Dickov scored twice for Brighton To sum how football mad my family were, I was born in March 1994
My first actual game didn't feature Spurs at all. My dad took me to Highbury to watch Arsenal v Rangers in Winterburn's testimonial (97?) It finished 3-3 and Ian Wright scored a hat trick if I remember rightly. My first Spurs game was after we moved North and they beat Peterborough 6-0 up at London Road (1998). The Tottenham goalscorers are a real blast to the past Tramezzani, Ginola, R. Allen, Saib, Sinton, Fenn Having watched two 6 goal games, my first competitive game was a 0-0 draw between Spurs and Villa which was the first home game of the season in 2001.
Just realised my first 4 games were Villa All i really remember is the penalty miss. Well he hit the post and buried the rebound but it wasn't allowed.
The season before Trevor Francis burst onto the scene as a 16 year old super kid, which would make it 1970. I’ve just realised I’ve been watching rubbish football for five decades..
It's a bit sketchy, but I think it was Jim Cannon's debut against Chelsea in 1973. Think he scored too!!
Parma - Antwerp in Wembley, was 2 days before my 7th birthday and my dad was working on and off in London back then for a year. Don't remember much just being in absolute awe, a few months later he also took me to a Spurs game which is how I ended up supporting Spurs. Not that I actually realised what football was about back then but the memories stuck and when I actively started to follow the PL the damage was done and I wanted Spurs to win, simple as that.
Mine was Manchester United vs Newcastle in the treble winning season. 0-0. My Uncle said I was a jinx.
Arsenal v Wigan - 2008 Carling Cup tie. Carlos Vela scored and a double from Jay Simpson who was recently at Cypriot club Nea Salamina.
Technically my first game was in 1983/84. My mum went to a game at Stamford Bridge while she was pregnant with me. What a wrong'un.
21 Nov 2001 - Gillingham 3-0 Crystal Palace - League Division 1 - Priestfield Stadium - Attendance: 9,396. Sat in the shitty open old concrete block away end back when it was a terrace. Pissing down with rain and freezing cold. Boring shitty game and just heard my old man cursing for 90 minutes.
