Really wish I could have spent more time there, but definitely want to come back. Not a dull moment even on weeknights. I guess it helped that Boca and River were in the semi final of the Copa Libertadores when I was there, so things got pretty crazy with, at the time, the potential of the Boca-River final.
I would love to go and live there if the money was right. Unfortunately financially they're still a basket case. I wish I'd have been there longer too.
Yeah a lot of the locals were telling me it's a great time to be a tourist there. Coincidentally the Air BnB I stayed at, without me noticing was smack dab in the middle of the area where apparently Argentina's advertising industry is located, which is what I do by trade. One of the main buildings next to mine was a company I used to work in the NYC office for. I definitely considered sending in an application.
I've done all of the travelling I want to do. In general I find the anticipation better than the arrival and it is usually the people I remember rather than the place itself. I always loved Scandinavia until it got destroyed by invaders...Ireland the same.... now I just want a sunny day, a warm breeze and a view of the North Sea.
That's awesome, actually I remember now that there is a part of BA modelled on the City of London, it actually looks like parts of Bishopsgate and Old Broad Street etc, mad. Recoleta was awesome from memory, just beautiful, I remember being in an exceptional Italian restaurant outside on the square and a couple started dancing Tango, Al and I immediately thought it was for tourists but realised that they were just locals - it was that moment I started to realise what a special place it is. I was so impressed with how much better they were in English than Brazilians. Also, getting into cabs and them asking English or American then passing you a cigarette when you said English Legends. I haven't been there since 2004!
I've never been to Scandinavia, it is completely unexplored for me, I think I know what to expect but there are always pleasant surprises. Why the North Sea?
Had nothing but positive vibes from everyone, they just spoke to us about music and there was football banter. The people were just fantastic and I didn't know what to expect beforehand with the Falklands and the football stuff. EVERYONE was friendly, just like in Brazil. Really the best travelling place I have ever been. And the women....classy, fun dancing stunning and the rest. Thinking about it makes me want to go now to be honest. hahah I'm not joking I would move there.
I'd like to travel the entire USA in a big van over the course of a year or so. I'd also like to go on a round the world cruise when I'm retired like a fancy old person.
Sounds ****ing awesome too. I want to cycle around Vietnam for a few months with my daughter, she's only 12 so not ready for backpacking adventuring yet, she's not far off though and that'd be epic.
I would LOVE to do that! Last year, I travelled long haul for the first time in my short (Ahem) life. I saved up and did what I have always wanted to do. I spent a week in New York and 5 nights in Boston. I wasn’t disappointed! I travelled alone! In New York, I made so many new friends and was rarely alone. I stayed in mid-town Manhattan (5 minutes walk to Broadway, MSG, Penn Station, Empire State Building and much more). I honestly could not have had a better time exploring! I particularly loved finding a Liverpool supporters club bar in Brooklyn, in which I watched Liverpool vs Man United at 7am… Great start to the day Boston was lovely, but so much more laid back! I loved going whale watching from there and had an amazing time at a Boston Bruins game, where I had the amazing experience of a section of the massive crowd singing my name (Long story lol) I want to go back to NY and maybe to Boston as well. I would like to go to some of the more ‘old American’ parts of America
Our very own Judith Chalmers Would love to visit either New Zealand or Canada just to take in the scenery that Mother Nature has given us. Do want to go back to New York. Only went for a week and everything was rushed trying to fit it all in. One regret is not seeing all of Central Park as had to cut short the visit as it bloody rained most of the day.....grrrrrrrrrrrr.
Before going, everyone seemed to say, "Oh, you'll love Boston!" Most seemed to think I would like Boston more than NY. I did like it and would happily go back (Really want to go to another Bruins game), but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had gone there BEFORE New York. Boston is so much more laid back, especially as I was staying right in the centre of New York, but in Boston, I was a little out of the centre. I arrived on such a high that Boston for first couple of days seemed a little boring by comparison
So much on my bucket list...probably did my 'trip of a lifetime' already though. 2010: one way ticket to Kuala Lumpur with no real plan except to just book a flight home when my money ran out. Ended up flying home from Mumbai 6 months later after travelling around Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, Nepal and India. Great laughs, food, beer, a few women (few years before I met the wife), sightseeing like the Great Wall, Taj Mahal and trekking up to Everest base camp. Snorkelled with thousands of tropical fish and was an extra in a Bollywood film. It had everything and I was lucky enough to be in between a job and starting uni as well as living with my parents so circumstances meant I could afford to spend 6 months away. After that it's almost a bit depressing as every other holiday kind of pales in comparison. I do try wherever I can to get a backpacking element to each trip I go on. I couldn't go away and just sit round a pool for 2 weeks personally. Classic example is this summer. My mate is getting married in Cyprus so instead of just going there for 2 weeks we're going for 5 days then flying to Santorini. Then getting a ferry to Athens and slowly working our way on a train up to Istanbul before flying home By the way if anyone has any advice about these places let me know as I've never been
Sounds superb. I've always loved travelling so when I read this kind of thing or better still, meet like minded people as I travel around, it gives me a bit of a lift..
That's epic, I completely agree holidays don't come close to travelling, there is a sense of freedom that a holiday will never offer.
