We're still eight points clear but our next two games are Man City (h) and Liverpool (a) so quite likely that gap will be cut by the time we play West Ham at home. Still need another win before we can put our flip flops on.

Its a big change of the state of play with the forest win. The home factor cannot be underestimated and every one of those remaining games for all 3 sides are precious.

With everton facing at minimum another 4 points deduction due to utter incompetence. I'm reading 17th and 18th as on 22 points. with the awful burnley on 19 and not without hope.

Luton have to play arsenal tonight so I don't expect anyhting to change and thier 22 points could have a massively inferior GD by the end of the night.

Brentford and palace only really need 3 more points IMO, maybe 4 at the very most to get to 34 and 31 respectively.

The great thing about this time of year for the nuetral in these things is it can all change again by 10pm.

Well according to some their fans the only reason they are going down is due to VAR/refs going against them costing them 8 points (as an example)

Sure they got a rough decision the other day at Chelsea but sounds like excuses being made for poor performances.

You can look at fixture lists and write teams off if you will - I learnt from last year that nothing is predictable at this end of the season. There will be a shock result or two at least. Especially if Everton get another points deduction.

This weekend is massive for the battle - Luton v Bournemouth and Everton v Burnley both huge opportunities for the 3 threatened sides.

Those games alongside the Luton-Everton, Everton-Forest look likely to be pivotal - lose both and Everton in the shit, win both they’re virtually safe. Burnley-Forest last day could be massive if they beat Everton this weekend.

Hard to look past the current bottom 3 still. The big decider could be if Everton get another points deduction. Sheffield United and Burnley are down.

Luton are giving decent accounts of themselves but they still are a while without a win in ages. The home games against Brentford, Bournemouth, and Everton are huge for them.

Blades have been down since mid August tbf.

Agree tho, hard to see past the current bottom three being the ones to go down. Even if Everton do get another points deduction they'll shithouse themselves to safety.

That point Everton rescued last night will keep them up, not necessarily the point, but the fact they broke the little run of losses, they'll beat Burnley (last team Everton beat this season in the league) at the weekend which will probs assure their safety. Luton, although putting in some spirited performances just dont seem capable of grabbing a win of late.

I don't think one win assures everton of anything with a poinst deduction coming.

everton could just as easy lose it and end up with 3 clubs level on 22. (after points deductions)

they really should win it mind.

When are Everton due this next deduction? (if any). Their last one galvanized them a bit and pushed them out the mire. Maybe they need that kick up the arse again?

Some huge games this weekend. Happy we're now 3 unbeaten and picking up points, but we do have some tough fixtures coming up.

I think Everton will stay up even if they get another 6 points deducted. They won't need to bother appealing.

if everton were reduced to 20 points then IMO they need to beat Burnley, Forest, brentford and sheff utd all at home and at least draw with luton away.

Its a lovely run in for them.

maybe we should ask for a 10 point deduction to at least make them have to try. It would make this entertaining.

They will when the punishment lands, then they will drop it when they survive.

I was looking at Bumley's season split into rough thirds yesterday, fairly evenly split points and the only major improvement as such is they are losing less games (W1 D4 L5 of last 10) and their wins spread fairly evenly, thinly if you prefer. They also haven't beaten anyone above Fulham in 13th

My point is that too many clubs, blades, Bumley and Luton, simply aren't winning enough games so even if someone takes 10 points off Everton, Forest, whoever above the bottom 3 they have more chance of winning games and making up lost points.

Could be pretty tight though for anyone getting a points deduction, especially as Everton haven't won a league game in 2024 (D6 L4) although the do have Bumley, Forest, Brentford and blades visiting among their remaining game and hapless as the lot are would anticipate at least 1-2 home wins, and they go to Luton so plenty of games they will surely fancy winning even if they don't

may be a shock but Everton have the second lowest goals scored record this season, and only four better than bottom of the pile (in many respects) blades

Somehow Everton will survive as they always do. It must infuriate their fans when they turn it on just enough to stay up but no more than that.

With Luton and Sheff U to play can expect them to sneak a 1-0 win or two .
