I've got a cup SF to worry about, we missed chances and ****ed up on penalties, we've still got trophy 3 and 4 to go for

What makes it even more bizarre is that it's a Champions League Quarter Final against Real Madrid. Tickets would be like gold dust, surely you'd have to have a lot of Man City loyalty points (or whatever priority scheme they use to sell their tickets) to get hold of a ticket for this game? So yous think it would have their most loyal and committed fans in attendance not just day trippers coming to see Real and have a selfie.

It probably speaks volumes about the make up of a certain percentage of City's fan base these days. They'd have shit themselves going to Maine Road and having to walk through Moss Side.

Nope, pretty sure City tickets for this are still not that hard to get. Recall an example from the first knockout round away game that showed they didn't require a particularly limiting set of previous attendances to get tickets before general.

Mate, they, City, are THE plastic club in the country. Yes, us and United have thousands and thousands of plastic OOT fans, but I'd say City struggle to half fill their ground with proper fans, where as United and Liverpool would sell out several times over with proper decent fans.

City have 30,000 or so proper Manc based fan, tops

They failed to sell out their allocation in two games against us at Wembley in recent time, tells you all you need to know about City's "fan" base.

very bizarre atmosphere. Just flat, it’s a knockout vs Madrid :D wasted on them, OT’s atmosphere is talked about but it would have been bouncing tonight. Every shot to the crowd a load of mutes looking confused :D

wouldn’t go that far tbf but they aren’t a noisy bunch, even when it should be. Never really have been, that “tifo” at the beginning was pure cringe. Proper city that.

but make no mistake the demographic of that ground is going down the pan - and it’s going to get a whole lot worse. Blues know it, most of ones I know hate it built a 60k stadium but haven’t got the support to fill it, despite dribbling on about Manchester being blue. It never was, so they can’t give them away. The result is that, a forced attempt at creating an atmosphere in the pinnacle of the sport with a dead atmosphere. Compare that to the other 3 ties, was laughable :D

you reap what you sow. Not called the liars for nothing

    Disappointed but not angry.

I don’t see how I can be, we narrowly lost a tie to a more experienced CL worn side. Arteta’s a bright young manager but he’s not Pep, he’s not going to rock up and win the thing in his first attempt

These high level matches open your eyes to what you’re missing in your squad. Experience and nous is the one obvious thing but for me, two other things stand out:

    - players capable of individual brilliance
    - running power

The lack of running power in our midfield compared to Bayern was obvious tonight. Rice has some, he’s a off the ball machine but Jorginho and Odegaard? No. I watched Goretzka, Laimer and Musiala carry the ball when needed. Sane obviously too. I feel we don’t have that carrying power in our squad.

Ultimately the reason why I’m not too disappointed is because I do believe we’re here to stay and will have more cracks over the next 2-3 years.

they don’t have the numbers. They’ve done a fantastic job of portraying themselves as the wackiest, most loyal and local support in the world and it’s coming home to roost for them. They weren’t like gold dust, anyone could have put in a bit of effort and sourced one.

the best team in their history and the place is a morgue all the time. They know it as well, they try all sorts to get an atmosphere going and they can’t manage it. OT for big games gets properly going - they don’t even have that yet we are the ones with a ground full of tourists apparently.

proper parody club, just laugh at the twats. Keeping the ball after the miss. Hey Jude. That bus before the game. city :D

not angry at going out to a bang average Bayern side? Very odd, I’d be sick.

3 seasons in a row Arteta / the team are coming apart at the seams towards the business end of the season. Wonder if some pressure will ramp up on him, it’s a yearly occurrence now.

hopefully you pull it together for Wolves / Chelsea and put pressure on city although I can’t seem them dropping a point.

Absolutely, same with Liverpool being blue, load of bullshit.

Last few years I have spent a lot of time in Manchester taking my daugher to 100s of concerts, be it The Academy, The Apollo, The Arena, etc...me and me bird usually drop the daughter off and catch a bite to eat in a nearby pub, we have eaten in tons of various Manc pubs, a lot of the time whilst United or City european games are being played. Im telling you now, when United are playing, pubs chocker, loads of interest, many United fans watching...when City are playing, he pubs are absolutely empty, barely any interest and Im talking a lot of the time during away games before some smart arse says their fans are at the game. IMO...from generally hanging around the place, chatting to folk, etc for the last 10 years or so, I'd say Manchester is 75% United, easily. I barely ever end up chatting to City fans, almost everyones a United fan, whether they are matchgoers or not, in general Im talking.

You'll struggle to find another football club where the fan base is a more accurate reflection of it than you have with Manchester City.

There is the odd exception with old school fans, but for the most part these days it's shit fans, and a shit club.

I was in Manchester the day City beat Watford in the Cup Final, we were actually in the Trafford Centre, which had a huge sceen showing the game. Barely anyone even glanced at the thing  you just know if United had been playing in that final, the place would have been chocker with shoppers (being United fans) stopping and catching a glimpse, hell I'd bet even Liverpool would have drew more interest

OK, you could say City fans would mostly be either 1) at the game or 2) at home watching the final. But the total lack of interest was absolutely embarassing.

Leverkusen’s performance has generated a misconception about Bayern. They’re still good, just not great.

We are also good, not great. Therefore two fairly even sides and the result went their way :shrug

That said, the questions about us falling apart at the same time are fair. I think the manager has to question his own methods regarding energy at this point of the season.

Have to see how the season finishes and then analyse from there. But tonight and in the CL in general, you won’t see an entitled attitude from me. We’ve made one final in 80 years of the European Cup existing. We as fans can only demand so much there imo and those demands won’t come when it’s this squads first attempt.

What? 3 Clubs from "Farmer Leagues" in the semi-final (plus Real) and none of the mighty Premier League ? Is that even allowed? :roflmao

Bloody Real did it again. And I fear they'll go for it again, 15th title?

My hope for a 2013 Bundesliga CL final replay in Wembley is slim but hey, at least it looks now good for a 5th place for the Bundesliga in the next CL season.

    edit:

Do we have already 2035? AFAIK the European competition began 1955 with the European Cup. Or were there other ones before?

3 different English clubs have won the champions league the past 6 years. Not sure if it’s the right time to start criticising the Premier League.
