To be honest Dunk's cock-up was exactly the kind of error Maguire is prone to make, caught out for pace and a poor, desperate attempt to get a foot on the ball.

Yes generally apart from Walker we do seem slow at the back.

But you know what the headlines would be if that has been him.

If they're all fit is going to be key. And our attacking players will need to play well because we're going to concede a soft goal or two with that lot and Pickford. So we're going to need the attacking players to deliver when it matters because we have the quality to cover for it.

Entertaining game so far, if only cos neither side can defend. Could be any score at this rate.

Almost feel for Dunk given the high line job he’s being asked to do twice, against good level opposition well setup to counter, for which he’s entirely unsuited.

Reminds me a bit of when Hodgson gave Ryan Shawcross a cap but played him in a way that he was completely unsuited for, he had a bit of a mare and never got a cap again.

To be fair taking bias away Shawcross was probably similar to Dunk. A solid top half Premier League defender but a notch down from the standard you expect for England.

Yeah, agreed. That's why I'd start Rice and Mainoo in front of the back four, especially against the better sides. Let them protect the defence and allow our front five to do their thing.

No one has anything to fear from either Wales or Poland on 1st half showing despite Davis's off side goal in 46th minute game has been edgy .

Liking Toney's physicality and the penalty he won then scored was stone cold
2nd half is going to be interesting

A decent enough first half performance wise, much better than Saturday, then we do have a striker than can play with his back to goal leading the line tonight.

Midfield much, much better, the difference between having a kid in there with structural awareness over Gallagher, who seemingly just runs and runs for the sake of running.

You can see why Southgate is desperate for a left back capable of bombing up and down, gives Foden that freedom to roam inside both off of the striker and to support the build up. A quick fix would be Gomez but I dont think he's capable of that, shame Rico Henry is still out.

    Bowen has been decent.

Alas, 2 unforced errors has turned a promising first-half performance into a travesty

Aside from Shaw there are no quality English left backs.
Mitchell is the best back up but I'd be asking him to sit back more and let the right back bomb forward.

Doesn't the winner go into a group with France and Netherlands.

    Ouch!

Nice touch regarding the England kit in this half.

I don't think it took this game to conclude that to be honest . Either of them will make up the numbers.

    Wtf is this Belgium kit?
Looks like a half-arsed tribute to late 70s Coventry City.

The worrying thing is Mitchell's been crap recently as well. Rico Henry probably deserves a call-up more than he does but he's still injured (I think).

Can't really blame Southgate for playing Trippier there.

Never get why people think international football is harder than top half of the premier league football. I mesn some very average defenders have looked amazing at the slower international level in tournaments. Croatias center backs come to mind. Not only is the game slower but the attackers don't have the same chemistry with their teammates as with their club teammates who they train with everyday. Should ve and it looks like it is easier to defend at international level

Been really impressed with Bowen. Definitely playing himself onto the plane.

Could be a handy sub as he knows where the goal is.
