Think the traveling fans will enjoy Portugal, Spain, Morocco. Something to definitely save money for. Enjoying a couple days in Madrid and watching a world cup match at the Bernabéu, then to travel by coach to Porto and spend a few days there as well as watching a match at the Dragão. To then take a 1-2hour ferry to Morocco and experience the beauty of northern Morocco whilst also watching another WC match. Potentially a mental holiday.
I didn't have the privilege of getting to Perth during my oz vacation simply because it's too far and too expensive. I'm sure living there you know that it is the most isolated place in the world (words from a couple of locals in Eastern Australia). I'm sure the ground is fine and all but it's still asking for a lot of logistics to get there. I tried to visit as many Australian grounds as possible during the WWC and even I couldn't be bothered with Perth (no offence). What other grounds in big places can Australia offer realistically? Cairns? Darwin? Gold Coast? Alice Springs perhaps? Don't think the country has that more stadia than what was on offer at the WWC... Feel free to prove me wrong though.
No offence taken at all. Yeah we all know how remote it is here. The in joke here is that WA stands for “Wait a While” as it takes so bloody long for things to get here . I had a look at what stadia were put up when Australia bid for 2022. Now that I spent 3 weeks there (mostly visiting the football grounds), this link is great hindsight. Was thinking about Newcastle about a potential place to host games but never would have put places like the Gold Coast or Geelong in there! Never head of Townsville, though. Surely there are more touristy places in that part of the country like Cairns or Port Douglas. Anyway, moot point and all that as that bid was for the 32-team tournament which is now expanded to 48. FIFA sucks.
If I may say something about the link you just posted: RMC Sport are ****s. Like proper The Sun horrible shits. They have no one on the ground, no network and just make stuff up for the buzz. Could be true though. Like I said, Australia will find it hard to host the whole thing by themselves.
This is all to make Saudi win 2034 isnt it? I know SEA are in it but SEA is probably one of the countries with weaker Football heritage then Saudi+Saudi probably line FIFA's pockets more. Shame though I wanted to see a Singapore WC match
To even think they lied to ocenaia in saying they might just maybe be in the hunt for a hosting role says it all. the second they dropped the ludicrous south America but Europe but Africa world cup on us i think it was obvious they got a massive bribe to buy the world cup in 2034. that's another world cup to boycott and who knows how many people to die in the construction. for 700 odd people to attend by the looks of their so called league.
I wouldn't necessarily boycott a World Cup in Saudi Arabia. Qatar was too small to host all those people and have zero football heritage. The Saudis actually have a decent NT that qualifies for the World Cup regularly. Sure they only recently found out that you could win a lot of friends by throwing money into football but reckon the comparison ends here. If there is accomodation on offer in Saudi Arabia then I'll go. But, y'know, it's 11 years away...
in general I'd agree thst the Saudis do have a long history of playing football and abuses such as beating players for errors etc. the human rights stuff is not good in Saudi so the questions have to now be asked, what will they do to create the facilities, how badly will they treat the workers etc. my main this about Qatar were corruption day 1 to award and then rampant human rights abuses of workers.
