He's become a cult actor now for Star wars fans, thought he was wrongly slated in the prequals , think the soppy shit with Padme turned some fans against him, Revenge of the Sith is in my top 3 Star Wars of all time and he's main man.
look the first 3 movies were terrible. The acting was so poor and wooden and the scripts and directions woeful. all the cartoons have been aimed at basically fixing that imo. I do think rebels looks like a show that was meandering and someone walked in one day and said wrap this up now it need to get to a point where the next phase begins. they killed off (not shown death mind) then suddenly rescue ahsoka. the space whales do feel like they were dropped in to really get to a resolution of thrawn and stuff what happens now if esra reappears? easra reached a point in about 3 shows of being a full blown Jedi so if he reappears what does thst do for the last 3 movies as neither he nor ahsoka are in them. esra would certainly be young enough to be in there.
Lucas mucked up those movies. The first one in particular. I think if they were made now, by Disney they would be a little better. Not necessarily a lot better given their final 3 movies but they would be better. The acting in the first one in particular is woeful. Thanks fully where we have got to now has layered in depth and familiarity with the characters. Obi wan is not great. It just isn't, but is does improve the portrayal of the character by mcgregor somewhat. most of all though Disney have both filled in the gaps and had to work round issues in doing so. The largest one of all is the fact that Skywalker is not a jedi knight at the end of the clone wars yet had a Padawan they created in the later cartoons to flesh out and improve the depth of the character. the cartoons have saved the character by improving what we saw in the first 3 movies. I actually think the streaming series are far better than the movies as they've the time to work the characters. Even andor is better than rogue 1 and is helping that movies (which is my personal favourite of them all) Solo for instance would have been better as a tv series than a movie. its just an action flock really.
In all seriousness that’s the beauty of Star Wars. There’s something for everyone to love. Although Return of the Jedi is my second favourite Star Wars film, as a trilogy I personally prefer the prequels to the originals
it seems that Glover was going to get a Lando Calrissian TV show, but this has actually been upgraded to a movie now, as per the Solo movie.
Well well well! Spoiler So happy to se Ezra, what a ****ing legend can’t wait to see him fight Baylan. Lars nailed Thrawn, some really interesting stuff going on there with the night sisters and the zombie troopers. Enoch looked very cool The most intriguing part of the episode though was Baylan Skoll. We know from this episode his motivations are completely separate from Thrawn, he just needed to get to Peridea. There’s something brewing out there, whether it’s the Vong, Abeloth, I’m not sure but it’s damn exciting
I liked it but. Spoiler: spoilers for last one its the last episode and it feels like they didnt nail esra from end of rebels initially but it started to come. they rushed sabine's force sensitivity from barely tickling a saber to full on force push. i liked the thrawn portrayal but the guy is a weed compared to the cartoon. hes not tall enough hut that a minor inconsistency. i dont get the finish. obviously nobody expected the death so baylan is now a massive hole in why ashoka and sabine are stuck on a dead end rock against a little apprentice and some bandits when the big big fight is coming. but we will see. i assume a full on pivot is coming
Cannot wait for Filoni’s film, it’s going to be incredible!! Further devastated that Ray Stevenson passed away. I honestly thought Baylan would die in this series so in terms of casting it wouldn’t matter. But he’s been such a focal part of the series and Stevenson brought so much intrigue, strength and eloquence to this new character. Whoever they recast is going to have a big job on their hands because his part of the story is going to be insane. The end shorts with the Father, the son and Morai were amazing and I seriously wonder if they’re exploring the old expanded universe concept of Abeloth Interesting decision to have Ezra back in the galaxy but not the others, hope we see him meet up with Zeb in the next series of the Mandalorian. So many references to Kanan in that finale
I liked it but didn't love it. I felt that in the end it ran out of juice having started quite well. in the end we finished with Spoiler: spoiler Baylan on a rock, the ending is now convienent for writing him out of things but his story utterly petered out. His apprentice ending up scratching a living now with a few bandits she will take over? started really well and got a massive sell with nearly killing sabine early. simply not enough to strand the two jedi with The final shows ended up watching supplies being taken on a ship and some little aliens going around slowly. The first episodes with a bit of intrigue as hinted by Mandalorian and the big reveal of thrawn's return etc were fine but the last 3 episodes for me just didn't deliver. esra was poorly sold compared to the anime show. Not sure about casting honestly and the entire set up of what on earth was he doing for all this time was, well there is no other way to put it, poor. I was just a bit disappointed we went form sabine not being able to use the force at all to tickling a lightsabre to 5minute slaters being able to do force pushes. I don't think that is sellable in any form. I'm not actually sure where this now goes. Season 2 of ahsoka will be in the "wrong galaxy" on a planet that looks pretty desolate so i'm sure it has something more to it with baylan. they might just scrap the whole thing i guess? The next shows in this "universe" seem to want to bounce about the timeline so Andor 2 is coming (where all these rebels cast are totally absent thus far) theres some prequel to the prequels coming so thats nothign to do with this story arch. Theres aother skeleton crew thingy Then mandalorian season 5 will be a year away due to the whole strike stuff. (maybe 2025)
I liked it. One downer for me, was how clunky Rosario Dawson looked at times, but overall was a decent watch IMO.
Actually preferred the younger actress to Dawson. Her choreography in the fight scenes was some of the best we've seen in Disney as well, where most people clearly don't rehearse enough and it just looks slow and clunky.
Well what we are looking at here is post events of return of the jedi (at least 5 years) so that's another 5 years after the battle of yavin and 20 odd years after the revenge of the sith movie. that puts 30 years on the ashoka character from the clone wars. shouldn't ashoka be clunky and older? I was happy that there was a clear difference between ashoka and sabine as sabine ren cannot be an untrained padawan. she is a mandatorily trained all her life. tbh if anything I was disappointed in esra reveal.
The trouble the show had is it was building up to big reunion moments that were supposed to be emotional except they were between actors we'd never seen together before. People who watched the animated shows wouldn't feel the same connection - especially to Ezra who looked nothing like his animated counterpart - and people like me who never watched the animated shows don't really care anyway. Didn't have the same resonance as having Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor back on screen together in Kenobi.
yeah, I deliberately sat through the entirety of rebels to understand what might go on. I felt that it massively accelerated the esra character "maturing" right at the end of the show and the last episode felt like they had decided late that there was no more cartoon series and packed a big deal in right at the end. chopper was fine. easy to do. hera, hard to do I didn't think it hit the spot but wasn't bad sabine was on the money. thrawn was played well but was too short and too, well a weakling. esra was miles off, absolutely miles off in character and in features. I personally liked the first episodes and enjoyed the little bit of mystery and set up as it really expanded the impression of the new Republic that the mandatorian last season started to form. Once we ended up on a dead end planet or two and such it got weaker
I've skipped the while thread to avoid spoilers. I have started watching Mandalorian (sp?) Series 3. I just can't get into it, do I need to continue it? I plan on starting Ahsoka instead.
