think we are judging players by overall quality not by international

    My England XI:-

    Shearer - Rooney
    Charlton
    Cole - Robson - Gerrard - Becks
    Terry - Moore - Rio
    Banks

It will be a lopsided 3-5-2 where Cole will be LWB with Beckham as RM who can be a quasi-RWB if needed. Other option was Trent but he needs a few more years and then he will be nailed on here. A bit soon for him I feel. Gerrard vs Scholes is obviously another option but I will just go with the better player and both him and Robson will play nicely off each other, especially with 3 CBs behind them.

Adams and Campbell were both better than Terry

Gazza ahead of Gerrard, especially next to Robson

    I mean its close tbh.

Sol is a more all-around CB than either Terry or Adams and could play in a higher backline but at the same time he is the least accomplished out of the 3 as well. Its hard to ignore Terry's impact and success at Chelsea even though I dislike the guy.

Still feel there are many people that cloud their judgement on Terry's ability as a player due to the kind of person he is. Aside the numerous qualities he has, arguably the most important was his consistency. This man performed at the highest level in football for 11 years. At 35 he's winning the league and being in the team of the season.

Also Gerrard should definitely be ahead of Gazza.

Sol is a top international tournament player, I'd argue that makes him accomplished. Made team of the tournament at both 2002 WC and Euro 2004. How many other English CBs have made teamof the tournament at two major international competitions?

Yeah but Adams did all that whilst pissed. Seriously though, I think Mourinho made him look better than he was. Same for Lampard. Neither were anywhere near as good at international level.

it goes both ways, if Jose helped them to look better they did the same for him.

If Terry played for Wenger he'd have looked much more average imo. Adams worked well in an organised Graham side, but also held his own when Wenger had him playing out from the back. Adams is so underrated it is unreal.

Is he the only one you've seen then? He doesn't even come close to Gerrard.

thats absolutely irrelevant, what matters is how they performed.....Iniesta would be shocking in a defensive team that skips the midfield and plays direct football via long ball or wing play. Is someone like Sneijder(who was btw brilliant) a better player because he shine in both systems?

The Terry vs Adams debate is interesting, especially as Terry always claimed he modelled himself on Adams.
