    The consistency is quite great.

But there are some legitimate doubts as well tbh.

Terry was at his best in a deep backline. He is probably the best penalty box defender in English League history. However, in a high backline he isn't quite as good as the other great CBs in PL era.

    Pure ability probably yeah.

But peak and longevity, someone like Gerrard was better. The consistency matters.

Yeah. But it won't be the first time the student becomes better than the master. Zizou is better than Enzo.

Terry's performances in UCL gets him in ahead of Adams and Sol for me.

You talked about Sol's WC and Euros performances. Frankly they don't mean as much imo because he was included in 23 men squads and not exactly best XI.

We've had several managers in the Roman era and I'd argue Terry's performances never altered. This is ultimately the deciding factor why Terry for me is the best in the PL era. 11 years of consistency at the highest level. Ancelotti also introduced a very dynamic attacking style of play in 2010 and Terry still didn't look out of place.

I wouldn't hold their performances for the international side against them when the entire golden generation did nothing of note after Euro 2004.

Exactly, just because Terry was better it doesnt mean Campbell or Adams were lesser players then they were, both were brilliant.

Sol made those team of the tournaments ahead of Rio though. And Id say Rio is the best CB I've seen play for England.

Yeah but that doesn't say much though in all honesty. We have to consider the whole career as a whole.

IMO Terry's performances in the UCL were more valuable than Sol's in WC and Euros, especially when you consider it wasn't exactly as legendary as say Cannavaro in 2006 or Thuram in 1998 etc.
