    It's the gigs thread.

After spending nigh on seven years in the wilderness gig-wise where I only got to see Guns 'n' Roses and Foo Fighters in Bangkok, largely due to the fact that no one tours Thailand, it's so nice to be back in the land of the living.

Went to see Wolf Alice the other week at the Corner hotel, which is a very small, intimate place to hold a gig as it only holds about 800 people and you're no more than 30 yards from the stage if you're leaning against the bar at the back of the hall.

They were decent. Sound a lot more punk live than they do on record, had a very Siouxsie Sue feel about it.

Bought tickets for Interpol in January, should be a great gig as it's in a really old (for Melbourne) theatre and the acoustics are apparently the bomb.

Also booked to see a Led Zep tribute band called No Quarter in December, they're supposedly one of the best at what they do so should be good.

But the real big news here, and I'm talking big, big news, is that the Arctic Monkeys are touring Australia and NZ in February and March next year and they're playing Melbourne at the end of Feb. One of THE main bands I've been wanting to see for an age..

Got my Monkeys tickets yesterday. General admission (standing) sold in eight minutes so I'm sitting which isn't great but at least I'm in..

I thought we had a gigs thread?

Just 3 gigs left in the rest of the year for me, I have Psychedelic rock band 'The Lucid Dream' at the end of this month, and then Nightwish and Clutch in December.

Petty good year for me for live music, the highlights being Rolo Tomassi, GnR and The Lucid Dream at Kendal calling (greatest live experience so far, absolutely amazing). Plenty of others but those 3 are probably the best I've seen this year.

Off to see Interpol in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait! Another band ticked off my must see list

Frank Turner's here in December. I've seen him live before at Reading but his set is a bit too weak to justify the $80 being spent on him here. Moving on...

Went to see Olafur Arnalds at the London Palladium on Wednesday, he was excellent.

Off to see No Quarter tomorrow night. They're supposedly the best tribute band to Led Zep that there is so that should be a good night..

Saw Interpol on Friday. They're a good band live but there's absolutely no interaction with the crowd and the choice of venue, an all seat theatre, was a shocking decision..

The Arctics were, as expected, superb. Nice to see Turner interact with the crowd in his Sheffield brogue instead of that American persona he’d been under lately. Musically, they were as tight as tight could be.

And news just in off my FB feed, Metallica are touring Australia in October and they’re playing Melbourne in the 22nd. Pumped

Aren't they doing the tour with Slipknot too? Outrageous line up.

Got my tickets for Metallica in October. £96 each for general standing is a bit steep but it'd be rude not to..

Yeah they're getting very expensive to go watch, the tickets cost £120 to go see them in Manchester this coming summer and I think it's injustfiable now.

Yeah, I’m sure if they stayed in the Travel Lodge instead of the Savoy the prices would go down. I mean, it’s not like they’re throwing the tv’s out the windows anymore is it?

Went to see Billy Ocean last week...despite being almost 70 he was brilliant.

Got tickets to see both Stereophonics and Liam Gallagher at the Eden Project in June which should be good. £50 each. Have no idea what the going rate is nowadays as I've not been to a big gig in years.

£50 for Liam Gallagher sounds about right, I don't know how big Stereophonics are nowadays tho to comment.

Vintage Trouble at the Corner hotel next month. Now I'm listening to their set list and I'm liking what I'm hearing
