Please don't praise the fat Spanish waiter. He is responsible if Liverpool get relegated. Hodgson is way better than him. Rafa had Torres scoring for fun and now has Etoo scoring for fun. Hodgson can't even deploy tactics that get the ball to Torres.
You seem to have completely missed the point/irony.......................... I was referring to how close fergie got to relegation, but after that dominated the league therefore, like some LFC fans who harped on about fergie taking seven years to win the league, I was sarcastically suggesting perhaps we should see running close to relegation as a GOOD SIGN.............................
There's a picture of him (Hodgson) on the back page of the Echo, I can't look at it without seeing failure. We would always have faith and pride in our manager but I can't with this bloke he fills me with dread and the way the team are playing it looks as though he fills them dread and fear. He's knocked the confidence right out of them and I agree he must go sooner rather than later. If he uses the same tactics of defending deep against Blackburn we'll be in deep sh!t, they'll just launch the ball into our box at every opportunity, the only way too counteract that is for Liverpool to keep the ball but under Hodgson we've never been able to do that.
No chief, I got it, my reply was suggesting if we had not won Fergie could have been sacked and the United we know today would be a different one, with most probably no shyster owners and no £700,000,000 + debt to service.
Same as Woy is a prick, who should never been let anywhere near Anfield unless iy=t was managing the mighty Fulham
Despite the euphoria with today's win, we've still only had 2 really good halves all season being honest.
We're winning and showing obvious signs of improvement so it's a little unfair to lay into Roy too much. Obviously I'm not an advocate of what he's been saying in his interviews etc, but as long as he's getting the results then he's meeting the bare minimum of what we should expect. Like I said, he took time to settle at Fulham. Yeah, he's looked out of his depth at times but to be fair, he's shown signs of improvement.
Thing is to a degree I do agree, but I was never going to use the Chelsea game to judge Roy (but that first half was obviously extremely encouraging). The worrying thing for me though is the performances, we really haven't been anything special whatsoever apart from against Blackburn for 70 mins at most and the first half today. That still requires improvement and he still needs to realise that the way he's gone so far will never get the best out of the players we have, who aren't as poor as many would like us lot to believe, and to actually continue with the way we played on those two occasions. The two upcoming away matches will be what I will be more comfortable assessing the upturn on, to see how far us, and Roy, really have come.
Not getting into the Waffa or Woy detate but I would like to see a forward step in getting a manager who's going to be around for the next 10 years..
Exactly. And that was the biggest reason I didn't want Hodgson over the summer. He's 63 - even if he was the right man for the job, he isn't going to be here till his 70s. I want a manager in for the long-term, who can build something long-term; as opposed to an ageing manager buying ageing players. The first half yesterday is far and above anything served up all season, so let's see if we can keep it up over the next few games. If we can then he may just have turned things round. Personally though, I can't see yesterday's peformance being the norm.
The position we will finish in imo, is the position we are in now,8th or 9th.Though we would be better off if we were to get another quality striker in.
Given the circumstances, I think that sitting back in the 2nd half, not risking any mistakes and holding on to a priceless 2-0 win over the league leaders is a more than reasonable decision, and it'll boost morale in the long term. If we play as well as we did in the first half yesterday in our next three games (Wigan, Stoke, West Ham) then i would happily bet on us getting at least 7 points and jumping up to 5th in the table (I want Spurs to lose at Arsenal next weekend). I'm unsure about whether Roy values defending or attacking more, but that's 4 wins on the bounce now, and full congratulations to him for leaving Poulsen out of the team yesterday, certainly paid off!!
PREMIERSHIP 10/11 Poulsen starts : P5 W1 D2 L2 F6 A7 PTS 5 (Won 20.00%) Lucas starts : P7 W4 D1 L2 F8 A6 PTS 13 (Won 57.14%) Both start : P2 W1 D1 L0 F1 A0 PTS 4 (Won 50.00%) I bet everyone did not see that last one coming! (me included!) With Johnson : P7 W1 D3 L3 F7 A11 PTS 6 (Won 14.29%) Without Johnson : P4 W3 D0 L1 F5 A3 PTS 9 (Won 75.00%) That is tongue in cheek, but we did play some winnable games with Johnson and where did his attacking ability get us? I doubt I need to quote the stat that we've won every game that Torres has scored in, but perhaps I can quote that we've lost every (league) game Gerrard has scored in. And did you know N'Gog has been a sub in the last SEVEN league games?
We haven't lost every league game that Gerrard has scored in!!! he scored in the 2-2 draw with sunderland
^^^^ beat me to it he's only scored in 2 league games and we drew one of them against sunderland it's quite clear that poulsen has been a big part of our poor start to the season, although he hasn't been the only poor player to be fair.
