Why on earth would there be? They were Frances two best players in the final.

    Thank you ;)

According to German websites there were racist abuse on social media against Kolo Muani, Coman and also Tchouameni after the match. Kolo Muani had the big chance at the end of the match and Coman and Tchouameni both failed their penalties in the shootout. It's similar to what Saka, Sancho and Rashford had to endure when they failed their penalties in the shootout in the Euro final against Italy.

That's the negative side of social media. Those morons think they must abuse players for a failure (as if they did that deliberately)

Sorry, only in German but I'm sure on the english twitter page of FC Bayern you'll find it in your language (idk where the english page is atm :D )

    edit: Found it ;)

Because there are a good few angry racists in this world and they take any chance they can get to show it. They should just be ignored

Was ironic that France wanted 3 penalties in the final, considering their fans were saying after the quarter "how many penalties do England want?"

Honestly thought it was a great performance from the ref. He obviously got some calls wrong but he got the important ones right and he let the game flow. There were so many 50/50s on the edge that were allowed and made it so that the tempo didn't drop. Most other refs would have blown at least 10-15 more "fouls" and given a few more yellows which would have either slowed the game down or let it boil over like Lahoz did in the Netherlands game.

What I liked about the ref is that he tolerated the physicality of the game, which in my opinion, the refs in this tournament have been too soft about.

First pen definitely had contact, it was definitely clumsy, di Maria probably didn't HAVE to fall.. BUT every player in the world cup would have done the same, including every single journalist that works in french media, if they had the opportunity.

You have to be prepared to lose the way you're prepared to win. A difficult pill to swallow.

I'm sad for france, but i'm happy for Messi. It's a strange feeling.

Need to take it when you're giving it. A lot of my fellow countrymen struggle with that...

I do think most Les Bleus fans aren't happy for the ref whistling a foul when letting the game flow would have given a very dangerous counter-attack.

I'm not sad for France because we were the reigning world champions and didn't actually deserve to win this. I'm not happy for Messi but I don't like him. People who have no connection and who are happy with him baffle me. Sure it's nice he's won everything but he still hasn't beaten Stoke on a cold Tuesday night.

I'm happy for him because he's a good guy who's the best at what he does and he deserves it. I'm happy for him because watching him all these years has made me happy. I've watched him since he started playing for my favourite club and watching him for so many years you get an affection for him. Sounds a little soppy but it's true for many

Name a penalty with more pressure on it than Messi's in the shootout v France?

Neither. It was mostly about Messi when they won and it would've been about him if they lost. Montiel has an out if he missed and france won in 2018 so muanis meant less and others missed before him. Anyway I'm talking about the moment in time that messi stood up to take that. He was under more pressure in his mind than anyone given he was the main man and he knew what it meant if he missed. It meant way more to the Argentinian people than it did to the French. Just look at the crowds at the games snd no way Paris would've looked like Buenos Aires the last few days

There was a sense of confidence with the Argentines approaching their penalty as if they knew already Lloris was shit at them.

@Eaman it's beyond creepy now. I honestly think you've got a couple of Messi posters up in your bedroom.

I swear I don't but I am a messi fan big time. Don't like the fanboy tag. I mean if your club produced the goat wouldn't you be very happy he won the world cup? Some ex professional footballers are as happy as me and that says it all
