Anything from a city, hotel, country. Add pictures. In terms of beauty and enjoyment, the Penha Longa is hard to beat. Used to spend my weekends there.
Arrived in Singapore earlier this week to stay with friends & it is probably one of the best Cities I have ever been to. Spotlessly clean, excellent transport system, diverse & tasty cuisine, friendly people who are ethnically & culturally diverse & appear to be living in accepted harmony ? But so expensive Think I might stay
Too many to chose from as it's been our main focus for the last 20 years or so and a priority before that. The five that I would put up there at the moment would be: 1) South Georgia - part of a trip to Antarctica via the Falklands and places Shackleton landed at. Amazing wildlife, landscapes/seascapes/snowscapes and a connection with a bit of history - the drive for whaling and exploring. 2) Tibetan Plateau (in China and the Autonomous Region) - bit overwhelming for a special anniversary 3) India - Keep going back to different parts but a trip to Gujarat stood out as particularly special 4) Papua New Guinea. Amazing birds, people and landscapes, with a view of how we're messing up all three. 5) Argentina. Buenos Aires is one of my favourite cities (passed through half a dozen times) - the rock music, contemporary music, culture, food/drink, football and people. The country is BIG and great for the variey of birds, wildlife generally and landscapes. Great people everywhere we went.
I can honestly say I’ve never been to a bad place. Travelled quite a lot and seen some wonderful sights and eaten some yummy local dishes. I’ve not been anywhere that I wouldn’t visit again.
Favourite cities that I've been lucky enough to visit would be Rome, New York, Melbourne, Krakow, Budapest, London, Cape Town, Cairo. For beaches and the views of the ocean, the Caramoan peninsula in the Philippines takes some beating, Koh Kud in Thailand, Aruba, Rottnest Island off the coast of Perth is incredible, in fact most of Western Australia overlooking the Indian ocean is pretty amazing..
It's on my to-do list, not that I'll be swimming in the sea, there's been four shark attacks in as many months there..
I've been to a fair few places but New York is the one that keeps pulling me back. I just love it there (so much so I'm writing a book on it). Hoping to do a couple of US national parks over the next few years as well. I've never been that bothered before but the older you get the more you start to appreciate just how amazing nature is.
My favourite cities I’ve visited. Havana - fabulous place very vibrant & lovely people. The buildings are really something & then you have all the old American cars. Buenos Aries - been there a couple of times last time was to join a ship to cruise around Antarctica. Not the safest city but certainly an interesting one. Loved the Boca area of the city, a must do for any football fan. Rome - just everything about this city is amazing from the architecture to the food. We were only there for a couple of days would have liked longer. Cairns - probably my favourite city on the planet. It’s fantastic weather makes it almost tropical. There’s a wonderful diverse selection of restaurants from Thai to Vietnamese. Scarborough - ( not the one in Yorkshire but the one on Tobago ) imagine a perfect tropical island & here it is. Spent a couple of hours drinking the local rum in a bar where the locals treated us like regulars. Baltimore - did a tour down the east coast starting at Toronto & finishing in DC. This city for us was the stand out city we visited. Great seafood restaurants.
