According to the BBC he'll take the reigns within the next 48 hours. The BBC don't report shite so it's a done deal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18235961 Apparently Louis Van Gaal isn't gonna be involved because the director of football position has been scrapped, so Rodgers is the man in sole charge of the club. How is he gonna do?
Young manager (who on a personal club related level is an utter ****) who likes to play football, its a good move, I very much doubt he will be given any form of chance.
^He did well for Watford didn't he? Then he buggered off? It's not all about money, just look at Newcastle. Some of the players aren't good enough but most underachieved, a fresh start under a bright young manager is just what Liverpool need IMO. Rodgers is much more modern in his approach so things will definitely change. I'd be shocked if the league position didn't improve tbh.
He's not good enough. Swansea's football originated from work made by Martinez and Jenkins and that carried them to this league. Even Paulo Sousa looked decent at Swansea!
i just cant see them overtaking any of the clubs that were above them last season, possibly everton thats it i reckon.
Yeah he did well, said he was staying then went if memory serves me right. And the second part I agree, Liverpool needs a sweeping brush, I expect a lot of player exits. Any manager going into Liverpool at this moment would be in the same boat, there is more chance of someone ruining their career rather than making it at the moment.
Yeah that's a valid point, BUT it was Rodgers that got them promoted and then lead them to 11th, just 5 points behind Liverpool.
Swansea took advantage of a poor league season and made the play-offs (the relegated sides all rebuilded). The league finish was impressive and he deserves credit for keeping them up and signing good players for the club. However a lot of managers have achieved what Rodgers has done...Steve Coppell, Phil Brown, Alex McLeish for example
Would be interesting to hear a Liverpool fans opinion on this appointment. I really can't make my mind up. He's a likeable guy, and seems a decent enough manager, but is he big enough for Liverpool? :/
Martinez would have been better but im not sure if he's been approached, if he was there would still be a big hoo ha. I'm thinking this could be a case of getting the first bloke that wanted it, which is pretty desperate. Liverpool past or present?
Is this not the same guy who said he wasn't interested in managing Liverpool a week or two ago? If he is our next manager I'll get right behind him but i don't see him doing any better than Woy/Kenny.
Not according to the league table! He didn't want to go through a 12 man selection process, he wasn't offered the job, it was just a shortlist at that point. Martinez was at the very least interviewed, even his chairman admitted as much and even expected him to be offered the job.
Probably not for the name Liverpool has but IMO thats sort of on the wane at the moment, going under the radar might be the best thing they can have done. Its the sort of thing he does. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/4419985.Brendan_Rodgers_leaves_Watford_after_192_days/
I think it's a pity that Louis Van Gaal isn't gonna be involved as Rodgers isn't a big name who will add any pull in regards to transfers.
Sir Stevie Coppell mentioned with those two inept managers? Jesus wept. As for Rodgers..think he will turn out to be a good appointment. Can't see most Liverpool fans backing the decision though..
