Tuchel is here, and what an inspired appointment. A humble man and a master tactician.

On the Frank Lampard thread I urged the club to get rid of Christensen and suggested £25 million as a fee to a foreign league that is less physical. The club would be mad to sell him at all now, and any fee would be at least £50 million. What a turnaround!

We need a striker. Kane is probably a nonstarter as Spurs would probably never sell to a main rival. Lukaku? No, in my opinion and I'm glad he wants to stay at Inter. He failed at Man U, and imo would not suit the very fast, slick style of football that the club are now playing. Has the age of big, strong target men gone? Man City don't have one, Liverpool don't, Barcelona, no, Real, no, Bayern, no. You could argue that Lewandowski is that kind of striker, but he brings a lot more to his game. Drogba was the all round player, but Lukaku is not Drogba, and there will probably never be another Drogba.

Ings is worth a look, and would convert a lot more chances than Werner. Aubameyang? Possibly, but not at 350k / week. Brentford's Ivan Toney is also worth a look, along with Haaland of course.

I would also recommend bringing Hazard back as long as his injuries can be managed. Real just did not deploy him in the right way, and he is still a match winner in tight games.

Thank god for Cech, as some of Tuchel's rumored targets scream similarities to Conte. Players that fit a certain system and if the manager ****s off, we are stuck with these player who offer nothing for the new manager that steps in.

ST definitely needed. I would like to take a gamble on Ivan Toney as he is rumored to be what, only 30 million? Low risk with potential high reward.

A DM is needed and I really like the look of Tchouaméni from Monaco. Absolute monster.

That leaves a CB to replace Zouma and a back up GK as there is virtually no way we can trust Kepa whilst Mendy is gone for AFCON.

    ST - Toney
    DM - Tchouaméni
    CB ???
    GK - ???

    Loan out Gilmour.

Have to say, Mendy seems like a bargain buy now. Unfortunately Kepa needs to play some game time if you want to make him worth selling.

Seems a bit harsh, who are the “system players” we’ve been linked with?

Can’t say I’d be keen on Adama Traore. I’ve always considered him a very limited footballer and I wouldn’t even consider him an upgrade to CHO playing RWB.

There’s nothing to any of the links are true though. The transfer window is full of games with agents trying to invent interest for new contracts or transfers and clubs wanting to keep their main transfer targets secret (doesn’t help negotiations when the selling club knows a player is your one and only target).

Wouldn’t be too worried about Weigl signing. We need cover for Kante and for €30m he doesn’t carry much risk.

Weigl would worry me considering his physicality. He found the Bundesliga to be difficult so I could only imagine how he'd fair in the Prem.

I always felt Kante and Kovacic were similar in roles. Bursting forward and not sitting. I'd rotate Kovacic/Kante and Jorginho/Tchouaméni

Well the manager has extended his contract - if that means anything these days .

I was surprised by the win but have to say perfect match play by the manager. Interesting if you guys spend in the summer.

You'd hope it would mean we are going after Haaland next summer.

Might be we had the option to active it which allows us to negotiate a small fee for him now?

Looks like Haaland could be too expensive this summer at £100 million +. Around £75 million seems more reasonable next year. As Werner showed this season, scoring goals in the Bundesliga does not necessarily translate to the PL.

Maybe Gerard Moreno would be a better bet this year, and any £100 million fee would be better spent on Jack Grealish. He's the closest thing to a Hazard out there, and worth around £100 million.

Think Haaland is 100% going to Bayern if this is held off until next summer.

    Rather Isak than Moreno.

Ive only got the impression that he wants to go to either Madrid or Barcelona but never can afford until the clause is active. I’m sure Bayern along with every other club would be over it once the clause is active which is why a club like Chelsea or City would have to pay the insane amounts thrown around now to have a chance

Lukaku has arrived, and hoping he's a much better player now compared to his Man Utd days. Against Aresenal he was unplayable, against Liverpool, he looked average. He's not Drogba, but hoping he brings the edge the squad needs to win the PL.

3 nil win against Villa, and the team can play much better. That says a lot. Lukaku is erasing any doubts about his PL credentials at a big club, and his goals were world class. The defence was also outstanding as usual, and hoping that Rudiger signs a long term deal. Saul has a lot to learn, but then again so did Havertz last season and he has learned.

The first goal in particular. Thought he'd bang it with his left foot, but he actually had the composure to cut with his left and shoot with his weaker foot. Not sure if he had this in his locker at United or Everton.

Saul has a lot to learn. My mouth dropped with some of the passes he made.
