I'm not saying he is our greatest talent, all I'm saying is he's been brought in on a 1 year contract to do a job which is to provide cover for our first team and offer Premier League experience to an inexperienced squad. There was even mention of him taking a coaching role further down the line. Sean Dyche has taken us this far so far and I trust his judgement on Steven Reid also.
I understand there is no risk involved, but you need better back up in this league. If Trippier gets injured Reid will be of no help. May I add I also admire your optimism, because IMO this is a pretty dire signing!
Haha I've seen a lot worse signings than Steven Reid in my time watching Burnley, maybe that's why not that bothered about it.
the difference being he is going to get a pre season with sean dyche and if he thinks he is good enough for our squad or first team then who am i to argue
For us, yes. Lets put it this way, at times last season Amalfitano was made to play right back when Billy Jones got injured, and he looked noticeably better than Reid. Amalfitano was a lazy attacking right winger.
Albyun released this turd at the end of the season. You'll be competing with that very team next season in the 'bottom mini league', so if he's not deemed good enough for them Christ you're in a world of pain next season.
People said we were in the shit last season when our starting defence featured Delaney and Gabbidon, and our back-up left back was Dean Moxey. Turned out OK in the end.
Yeah - we should have actually released him the season before hand, why we didn't was a mystery. I hope Burnley do well as I don't mind them, but Reid is an awful signing. According the the tenuous gossip on E&S we're looking at Steven Ward
Presumably he has been released by Irvine who wasn't deemed good enough for PNE. Arfield was released by Huddersfield and was brilliant for us. He may not be good enough but I'm willing to let him prove himself first
No he was released before Irvine came in. Basically our manager doesn't sign/release players, Irvine had nothing to do with it
With all due respect to my knowledge Dyche has never managed in the Premiership, not every call he makes is going to be correct.
I agree he will make mistakes like everyone else, I'm just not goin to call him on them before they happen. All I can go off is the turn around in players he took on frees last year and how well they did. Which was amazing
Nail on head. With the optimism from some of you lot, you could sign Heskey as your target man and it would still be classed as a good signing.
