Got to love the Irony of Rangers fans online today. All claiming that Celtic were fighting to get a title handed to them when people are dying etc etc... The same set of fans who had petitioned for war titles to get added from an unofficual amateur league where players could play for one club one week and another club the next.... At a time when their own staff, players, fans etc were dying fighting a war. Honestly you couldn't mark that mobs kneck with a blow torch.
Its a different situation, as four points is far less than thirteen. However, Hearts have been abysmal this season, and four wins from thirty with the budget they have is embarrassing. If anyone deserves to be relegated, it'd be them. They've played like a Championship team with Premiership attitudes all season, derbies aside. Yes, there's the possibility that they could have won a few of the closing games, but what would your solution be? To deny a side promotion?
Question;- Off the top of your head only name me as many as you can the seasons of Scottish football in which neither Celtic or Rangers won the top flight League in Scottish football (along with the name of the club(s) who won the league in that season(s) ] . example: Season 1984/85 - Aberdeen.
Am too young to remember them. Although Dunbarton should feel hard done by by sharing a title with Rangers in 1890/91 when they were level on points but had a better goal difference.
Thank God that they declared now Celtic Champions for the 9th time in a row and not declared the season null and void. So when Bayern will win its 8th Bundesliga title in a row in a few weeks we (all the fans of the other clubs) can point to Scotland's Premiership and say "Look at Scotland, they suffer even longer than us " Nah, serious: Congrats, Celtic. It's deserved (and I say that although Rangers and HSV have a long fan friendship). btw: How many Scottish Titles do you have now? As much as Rangers? Must be over 50, right?
Easy and was never in doubt. Another fantastic season and a great result for Gerrard at loserville. Their squealing is simply a deflection from the fact that he has been another abject failure domestically in a long line of duds. Well done Celtic, won at a canter.
Or to be more accurate, at a time when they all went and worked in the ship yards to avoid being enlisted.
Congrats Celtic, but really, where's the achievement ? May as well just play Rangers, four times a season and make that it.
Not interested in getting into the Celtic vs Rangers debate but I've said all along that if the season can't be finished then PPG is the fairest way to do it. Clubs are where they are because of how they've performed for more than 3/4 of the season. Celtic are far and away the best team and are worthy champions. Hearts have been the worst team in the league this season so are deservedly down.
Dundee United are 14 points clear, and top of the Scottish Championship goes up automatically. To give them a play-off with Hearts, could potentially deny them a place in the Premiership next season that they've earned an awful lot more than Hearts have.
This is the reality. I don't know a single Celtic fan who didn't want the season to be finished properly. I think the one thing that has been missed in all of this is that we have been watching the most successful domestic team in Scottish football history and we the fans and the players have had the glory stopped so to speak. We are on course to complete 4 trebles in a row and although it might not be nice for fans of other teams to see, we are truly in a historic period for not only Celtic but also Scottish club football.
I'm a blue nose when it comes to Scottish Footy and I'm happy to say congratulations to you Tims. Lets face it, you were miles ahead and nobody was going to catch you. People might moan about the decision made but a decision had to be made. We should respect it. It's all about stopping you getting to the 10 now
Would Celtic fans swap 9 Scottish League championships in a row for winning the English Premier League once? Answer:- I say yes! Which is the better achievement Leicester City winning the English Premier League once, or Celtic Winning 9 Scottish League titles in a row? Answer:- Leicester City winning the Premier League! I think that 1 English Premier League title is equal to 10 Scottish League titles.
Two entirely different point in there. Leicester PL win is one of the greatest footballing achievements of the modern day but its all relative as to which club is winning it. Is Man Utd after spending £500 million winning it once as good an achievement as winning 10 SP titles, of course it isn't and its ludicrous to say it is.
a) Winning the Scottish football's top flight league is the equivalent of winning League ONE in England! b) Winning 10 Scottish titles is like a marathon win, while winning 1 Premier League title is more like a sprint? c) Would Celtic FC swap a place in the UEFA Champions League for a place in the English Premier League? Answer:- I say yes becuase there is more money for Celtic FC in Premier League compared to the UEFA champions League!
Is it buggery. Rangers & Celtic would piss the championship and probably not get relegated from the prem!
Rangers would be like Newcastle United and Celtic would be Like Man United in the Premier League [imo]!
