We've sold out our 6,000 allocation at Chelsea, expensive do. 5.30pm kick off. I may commit murder if he starts Ched Evans, leading the line by himself at Stamford Bridge. Nothing against Evans, he's been good for us, and can still make an impact off the bench, but he's clearly not the same player he was before his back surgery. He's effectively playing attacking midfield for us, with no one up front. Nonsensical when we have Osmajic and Keane on the bench, young Stewart sat in the stands, and now Riis back from injury. There will be uproar if he starts a reserve side, but i'm fully expecting it.
Shite draw, very little chance of an interesting draw in the next round, and we don't have the squad depth or quality to go too far. So absolutely not too bothered this year. I was tempted of doing Harrogate v Doncaster, but opted against it due to the kick off time.
Well hopefully we won’t be one of the first on MOTD! Chesterfield in form so will need to guard against complacency.
Going to be a dismal gate at Ewood, just hope the result is better against Cambridge! Could very easily be a banana skin!
Dunno. They'll come out and play against us and that suits how Manning sets us up, so I'm a fair bit more optimistic. Probably lose still but be delighted with a draw and over the moon with a win. Proper exciting away day.
Aldershot at home on Sunday? Be lucky to get 8k there. Think Aldershot are bringing 3k plus. Expecting many changes. Carlos already said Griffiths in for Palmer. Dike to start, first game in 8 months. Starts for pipa, Taylor, pieters, fellows. 9 players ruled out. Hopefully no upset.
FA cup third round day used to be one of the highlights of the season. But interest went down when the so-called big boys started putting reserve teams out and the Championship clubs started doing the same thing. I got fed up being turned over by Littletown Rovers or Smallplace United because managers tell us we need to concentrate on the league. When I started watching football seriously, I'd look forward to the Monday after 2nd round day, 12.30, glued to the radio for the 3rd round draw, praying we'd get a good draw. During those years we drew Arsenal and our attendance was around 56,000 at Ninian Park, a couple of years later we drew Leeds and the crowd was around 50,000. All clubs used to get huge attendances for big draws then. But interest has gone, and I never go to cup games anymore, the armchair fans are delighted of course, 3rd round weekend now starts on Thursday and goes on til Monday with wall to wall games on TV. The magic of the cup has gone, what a pity for the oldest cup competition in the world.
Fair play to Hull, charging our season ticket holders the same price as their own, my lad an all his pals have all gone, all season ticket holders under 21, fiver a pop!!
Away at AFC Wimbledon in a 12:30 kick off. Never really sure what sort of side McKenna will put out in the cup, we could really do with giving some of our key players a rest with injuries mounting up. Morsy is almost certain to start considering he misses the next two with suspension. Edit: Pretty strong line up. Watch us lose 3-0
Bit of a hodge podge side from us with injuries and players rested, while Leicester have fully committed to fielding their reserves. Gives us a decent chance of progression I suppose.
Should have won that really. Leicester just have that extra bit of quality in the final instance which meant they took their chances when they came while we spurned 5/6 really decent chances.
A replay isn't ideal at all. But at least our name is in the hat and we'll see if the next round offers an interesting trip. Hoping for Maidstone or Eastleigh away for a new experience despite the travel.
