Crazy to think if you’ve been supporting/watching/following Leicester since 2000 you’ve have seen them win League One, The Championship, The Premier League, League Cup & FA Cup. There can’t be many fans of many clubs who have seen their club win all that lot. Let alone in a relatively short span of 21 years.
94 for me. Seen a few play off final wins a couple of league Cup final wins and a loss too. We must be the 6th most successful English club of this century.
Didn’t see your beloved Leicester get absolutely spanked by Swindon in ‘93? We got bored at 3-0 up and even let you pull it back to 3-3 to give you a chance* *may not be historically accurate.
Thankfully i wasn't very invested in football at that point! We also got done by Blackburn a year before which stopped us being part of the inaugural prem season. It was a combination of the 94 World Cup and Walshy downing Derby that got me hooked.
****ing Blackburn; done us over that year as well. Bought Duncan Shearer from us. Barely played him and sold him to Aberdeen a few months later. Only did it to stop us.
Congratulations Leicester City. Reportedly around 11million people watched this game, funny how when it's on non subscription TV the viewership increases. Young people aren't interested in football my arse. They just can't afford Sky BT and Amazon prime.
Mixed emotions for me really. Genuinely pleased for the Leicester lot, they do really deserve it but I'm also pretty bitter about it. I know we're seen as this evil club at the moment but super league shambles aside, I relate to Leicester a lot more than I do the other five. We're nothing like Chelsea or Manchester City, whilst the other three are much bigger football clubs than us. Whilst we have established ourselves as one of the "big 6" it has only really been in the last ten years or so and it has been much in the same way Leicester have had their success. Our place has largely been built on hard work and steady growth season after season, often having to replace our top players along the way (Carrick, Keane, Berbatov, Modric, Bale, Walker all pinched by richer and more successful clubs). We've lost finals to Chelsea, both Manchester clubs and Liverpool in the last 15 seasons. Plus finished runners up in the league and lost countless semi finals along the way. We've gone about as close as you can get to winning every competition without winning any of them (no FA Cup final yet but tonnes of semis). It's a lot easier to excuse when most of those losses have been at the expense of the other five and you can hide behind the gap in wealth. Genuinely delighted for the Leicester fans because they do deserve it but it also leaves me feeling envious and bitter. 99% of clubs know the league and European Cup (Champions League) aren't attainable so growing up the FA Cup is the one you really dream about winning. It's why yesterday was probably the best FA Cup in recent memory because you could see how much it really meant, for those scenes alone it's probably the best FA Cup success for some time and most satisfying to witness. Made up for the Leicester lot and a few Leicester supporting friends in particular but I'm desperate for a moment like yesterday. The closest I've come was in Amsterdam but we all know what happened in Madrid so it was largely for nothing.. Fingers crossed for 2022. Anyway, well done Leicester. Hope you're all still celebrating and hope some of you are at the KP for the final game to celebrate with the club again. C**ts.
One thing you Swindon boys have got is that anybody who plays for you has to be a decent driver as there’s the lovely Magic Roundabout to navigate outside of the County Ground.
I thought Ipswich Town fans might have been able to do it if they watched them from the mid-50s to early-80s during their Alf Ramsey and Bobby Robson eras but not sure they ever won the League Cup. They did win the UEFA Cup instead, mind.
I thought I'd made the wrong choice watching the BBC with that muppet Jenas on comms, but I caught the BT replay today and they had Savage **** me that man is clinging onto us like a baby chimp does its mother, never had a good word to say about us in the media until 2016! **** off!!
in all fairness credit to Leicester put up a great performance. Luckily I got the CL final to look forward too come on you Blues!
