I understand that but you didn't have a go at them you didn't attack and take the risks required to have caused the upset. It was the same against us in the CL final you showed no adventure and spirit until late on when you forced Alisson into couple decent saves. I think that you should have beaten Leicester to the title the other season (No disrespect to Leicester fans). That's the only thing that's stopping you from winning anything imo a lack of winning mentality and bottle that last push to get you over the line. I'm not attacking you or putting the boot in. I always liked Spurs and wanted you to win today.
This is levelled at Spurs a lot but in fairness Arsenal and to an extent Citeh bottled it. Spurs never once held the lead that season, the other 2 did, and Arsenal did the double over us so had all the possibility. Spurs were always chasing and therefore didn’t bottle it like Arsenal for example.
There's mentality issues but I think its unfair to label them bottlers today. If City play well they beat us 1,000 times out of 1,000. We made some poor decisions in the final third today but I'm happy enough with the attitude. They're just much better than we are. It was an inevitable result really, nothing to do with bottle. We were 4th at the start of Feb. We only 'bottled' that season because we bothered to keep going rather than give up like the other two. We absolutely bottled 2nd but we didn't bottle the title that season, or the following season.
Just to follow on from that post.. Not singling you out @Dutch but I'm just tired of hearing it. I think it's just a lazy buzzword people like to throw out now. I think people forget that one team has to lose a final. Just because you end up losing doesn't mean it's a bottle job, particularly when you come up against better opposition. Since our last trophy we've lost cup finals to Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. The opposition have been favourites in all four but you'd think we'd played Salford, Leyton orient, Tranmere and Stockport the way people go on. I don't think we've shamed ourselves today. These big games are generally decided by small margins. We made some poor decisions in the attacking third and lost the game from a stupid free kick. Praise Manchester City, slate Spurs' negativity but I don't think this has anything to do with bottle. The better team won but with their resources it was hardly a surprise. I backed City 3-1 before the game so it went better than expected.
After watching him against City I honestly think he would be a waste of time. I’d rather take the money for Kane stick Son up front next season and bring in some creative midfielders with a decent manager to give us half a chance of top 4 and a europa league challenge next season.
While I hate Man City I don't know how anyone can accuse them of bottling anything with what they won in the game post the oil money. They are always going to have the odd season where they drop off it is only natural and to be expected. Arsenal have bottled some things they are certainly gigantic bottlers in Europe but again they have had plenty of success in the premier league era. Spurs haven't that's the difference. Think they only won two trophies? They need to win something it will be tragic if they don't with how good they been in recent years.
Call him what you want, he will be your problem next season. If you are looking at it logically the only club he will go to is you lot.
I know but you still can't accuse City of bottling it that season or being bottlers that's the discussion.
Statistically, you should have won one of those still. It’s not like you haven’t been able to beat these teams in one off games. It is harsh to label you as bottlers off this individual performance but there’s clearly a mentality issue for it to happen so many times. You’ve had too many chances for it to be unlucky every time. Sacking your (cup final specialist) manager a week before a cup final for a complete rookie is always going to be seen as a bit silly too.
I seem to remember Spurs being favorites in 2015 considering they spanked us 5-3 in the league just weeks prior.
Weeks prior to what? On New Year’s Day 2016 they were 4th. Arsenal were top, we were 2nd, Citeh 3rd. *sorry just clicked you meant favourites for the final not the league.
