You'll have to excuse my cynicism but this seems like a very transparent attempt by Slavia to deflect attention from the blatant racism that is present in their club.
I'd call it logic rather than cynicism. It's clear as day that that is exactly what it is. Won't stop him from hoping it's true though, he is that pathetic. Hope yous thump them
It might very well be and it might not be. The two allegations need investigated though and tough action if anything is proven.
Strong statement and details from the Rangers players. Glen Kamara: Rangers midfielder reveals extent of alleged racist abuse suffered in Slavia Prague Europa League tie
Slavia Prague have made a statement that the blanked out letters are “ce guy” and there’s nothing to see here.
In fairness, they can't control what an element of their abhorrent fans do. Same unfortunately, of their racist fans online who have abused Roofe and Zungu. Although it just paints the picture that the club is fundamentally racist, because the supporters are/carry the ethos of the club and this reaction has not been in small numbers. What they can control though is avoiding such utter negligence (at best) and more than likely, acceptance of racism from their player, by shutting the allegation down as lies without even a promise of an investigation or just an apology, despite strong evidence. Then following it up with lies about a pre-meditated assault. Their goalkeeper has now confirmed what Kamara has claimed, was said. So now they need to be held to account...and properly. There's enough evidence there to actually tar the whole club and just call it a racist club.
If their goalkeeper has confirmed racist comments then the player should rightly have the book thrown at him. This guy has fellow black players in his team for christ sake. Any right minded person should want to stamp this thing out of the game and society in general. Michael Stewart has been getting hammered for his comments on the incident and the reaction for me is ridiculous when all he has stated is that someone can’t be hung drawn and quartered without sufficient evidence. That evidence can’t simply be the reaction of the person comments have been said to. It would be a very dangerous road to go down if the reaction alone to any such incident was deemed sufficient evidence to determine guilt.
Whilst I agree with the overall point that you've covered here. I think where Stewart hasn't helped himself is in A - Building this reputation for himself, as a Rangers hater, which honestly he is. It's undeniable. When praising Rangers you can visibly and audibly recognise that it pains him, there is always a but involved. Every stonewall decision that Rangers get is dubious, every 50/50 call should definitely go against Rangers. On the other end of the scale, when Celtic rightly deserve praise for a performance, he absolutely piles it on, lauds them, you can hear the enthusiasm in his voice for it. I'm not one to cry media agenda etc, so I'm not, I'm just explaining this reaction to you a bit. Michael Stewart prefers Celtic, he hates Rangers, he makes it clear, whatever, who cares? B - More importantly, bringing up the alleged homophobic slur from Gardyne earlier in the season in another game where we were involved. Why would you do that? I know the point he's making here r.e. innocent until proven guilty and I agree with it. The problem comes when you put A and B above together. That's what has formed this reaction. The question people are essentially asking is, is he actually unable to put his anti-Rangers attitude aside even for racism? I'm not saying he isn't. But it's a question he has opened up for himself. People are wondering, if it were a Celtic or Aberdeen player involved here, would he be as cautious? That's the problem you can cause for yourself when you are so unbalanced in a job like his with the normal day-to-day stuff.
I would imagine the reason he brought up the Gardyne incident is because it is an example of an incident whereby a player can be deemed guilty at the time, but subsequently not proven to be. You have said yourself that you agree with the point he is making, so it would seem that the reaction to it is purely down to the way Rangers fans feel about him personally rather than what he has actually said.
