It does matter as Lineker said he has it on good authority it will be changed back to deliberate handball, why? because it is bollox .
‘Unnatrual’ in this context for me reads as ‘intentional’ though, and I don’t think that’s what it was.
It doesn't matter for the decision we were discussing though. You can't make up your own rules and say what a decision should have been based off your own made up rule Currently, it doesn't matter whether it's accidental or not. I don't agree with the rule and want it changed also and hope what Lineker said is true. But that doesn't matter in regard to today's game.
Gundogan with the sweetest volley will will ever see then sinks to my level with a bobbler that bounced a few times. Useless sod not getting a third as every year we get reminded the last cup final hat trick was in blah blah. Could have gone into the history books by putting that stat to bed forever.
Obviously he didn't intend to touch the ball with his hand. That isn't why it was given though. Referees will now look for a deliberate action on behalf of the player, with an emphasis on whether the hand/arm is in a natural position or not. "An arm extended away from the body makes that body bigger, in an unnatural position," explains Mike Riley, Managing Director of Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL), the referees' body. "If the ball strikes that arm, particularly if it is blocking a shot on goal, there is a greater likelihood we will penalise that." touches the ball with their hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger. A player is considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation. By having their hand/arm in such a position, the player takes a risk of their hand/arm being hit by the ball and being penalised from What's new in 2021/22: Handball Law & Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct
This has always been the issue with "deliberate" handball. It implies a player could turn their head away, close their eyes and then wave their arms all over the place and not be guilty of handball.
Unnatural isn't that hard to define, ultimately today Grealish moves his arm above his head/body twice - it's the second movement that was unnatural. You jump up and you raise your arms, that's fine. But it is undeniably weird to then keep swinging your arm out again after bringing it down... note, he only swung the one arm back out too. It's funny when these debates happen, because that was shite defending from Grealish and in the end it gets ignored through the controversy. At the same time, a big issue with these decisions is that ultimately City didn't gain an advantage because it brushed his hand so it feels kinda silly a game can be swung like that over something pretty innocuous.
quality of this city side aside, not happy with ten hag today. hindsight would tell you we should have started a different side, but i would have made that garnacho/eriksen sub at halftime. rashford not involved at all. shaw nonexistent when he can't get beyond the halfway line. kept haaland quiet, yes, but just zero urgency or initiative to close down space or win the second ball. rolled out the red carpet for city time and time again to almost walk the ball from their own half into our box. not good enough. doesn't help when you concede a cheap goal (brilliant strike btw) 13 seconds in because we apparently didn't hear the opening whistle. sancho needs to go. garnacho has looked better than him whenever he's come on and today was no different. thought de gea could have done more to prevent their second goal, but it is what it is. if he doesn't want to take a pay cut to stick around, he hasn't really done enough to show that he deserves any more. how that was a a yellow to awb is beyond me. makes zero contact on that diving soccer mom haired drunk driving piece of shit and sees yellow? so frustrating that we nearly equalized due to mctominay and weghorst. both players show energy, but they lack the quality. other players--eriksen--have quality, but don't have the energy. need to nail the recruitment this summer.
Someone should tell man city fans they just won the double, what lame celebrations. Fan culture is dead in England.
Still loads of tiki taka 5ft players in that squad. 4 of the best are. Gundogan, foden, silva and mahrez. Prefer city with aguero as well
This guy is just a wanker, arrested or not he's a disgrace and an embarrassment to myself as a United supporter and frankly his sort make me despair sometimes about the state of our game. I'm leaving the picture there because you can't see his face, not because I don't want him to be identified but because I don't want such a braindead clown to get the publicity from like-minded simpletons he obviously craves. Can we please not discuss him any more, he's a twat and anyone making excuses about the '97' possibly referring to something other than the 97 poor souls who died as a result of the Hillsborough disaster needs to give their head a shake.
