I thought it would be interesting to share some of our favourite movies scenes. It's not about the greatest and they could be in otherwise, terrible movies. This tweet popped up on Twitter and gave me the idea. I'm sure the rest of the show isn't like it but apparently this is the pilot. The music, the car, the streetlight & neon lights. This scene in Collateral never fails to make the hairs on my neck stand up.
Train station scenes in Carlitos way and untouchables The Mexican stand offs in the good the bad and the ugly and reservoir dogs The final scene in usual suspects where Chaz palminteri pieces together the clues whilst Kevin spacey is strolling out of the police station the christening at the end of GF1 where Michael eliminates his enemies
Movies: Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049 The Tears in Rain scenes at the end. (it's with snow in 2049 but OST lists it as Rain). Also, the Mesa scene from 2049, when they leave to visit the orphanage. Aamis The cooking montage. It was disgusting and at the same time beautifully romantic. Godfather Michael taking care of all the other family heads and Moe. Godfather 2 Vito going after Fanucci. Brazil The climax scene (including the rescue and De Niro's paper scene), before the punch in the gut. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 Snape's story. I Saw The Devil The fight scene inside the car. Life of Pi The night scene with the whale. The Place Beyond the Pines Dad and son riding on their bike and cycle respectively on those curvy roads on two different occasions with the tune Snow Angel playing in the background Dr Sleep Rose the Hat paying a visit to Abra. Garden State Visit to the infinity abyss. Almost Famous An angry Russell going to the party with William, before bring brought back to the bus, and everyone sings Tiny Dancer. Sadma The final scene at the train station. I haven't seen anything as heartbreaking as that. TV Series Seinfeld Marine biologist and the whale monologue. I will probably list few more, when I remember them.
From my favourite movie this one sticks with me whenever I rewatch it. In terms of TV nothing tops this.
You Sir have excellent taste Movies, Godfather 1. Michael shooting Solozzo and the Police Captain. Also the very final scene when Michael becomes The Don and the door closes on Kaye. Godfather 2. Every scene Robert De Niro is in but especially when he kills Don Tomassino and when he forms Genco in Italy. Also when Michael has Fredo killed. 2001 A Space Odyssey. The whole part when Dave goes through space and time and becomes the Star Child. Full Metal Jacket, the whole first 35 ish minutes with the Drill Sergeant culminating in Private Pyle taking himself out. Goodfellas, Joe Pesci going tonto on Billy Batts with de Niro. Also when Pesci finally gets his in the end. TV, the black screen in the final episode of The Sopranos. Game of Thrones, seeing the red woman as a crone, Ramsay Bolton getting mauled by his own dogs, Littlefinger getting killed, Arya killing The Night King. Auf Wiedersehn Pet, all of season 1 and 2. Breaking Bad, Gus Fring with half a face left after being blown up by Walter White's Bomb, Gus Fring kills Don Eladio and all his henchmen
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest has so many classic scenes but for me none more so than when JP MacMurphy, played brilliantly by Jack Nicholson, is trying to get a favourable vote so that he can watch the World Series on TV. The way he acts in front of a blank TV screen is just about as good as it gets..
Too many to list at the moment ,but one of the more recent ones was the bathroom scene from the Joker. It stayed with me long after I watched the film ,just an irresistibly hypnotic and thoroughly haunting scene.
I was tempted to put this in but I’d say this is an iconic moment for me (their first scene together) rather than 1 of my favourite scenes. They are still my 2 favourite actors to this day
Film wise, a lot of my favourite scenes have already been mentioned above. but - the end scene of Fight Club is up there the D-Day landing in Saving Private Ryan TV wise the one shot from series 1 of True Detective that has Rusty going through a gang neighbourhood The blowing up of the Sept with everyone in it in GoT. The music definitely helps with this scene.
Show went a bit pants in the end but GoT is littered with amazing scenes. This has always been my favorite though. Jaime became my favourite character after this.
Don Corleone's warning to the other families should any accident befall Michael on his return was just cinema gold "Then I'm going to blame some of the people in this room ................. and that I do not forgive" Even the pause between the threat is quintessentially Brando
Without doubt (in my mind as well as millions of others) the bestest closing scene to a TV series, ever. Spoiler: If you haven't yet seen Breaking Bad but intend to then don't click on the pointy white thing in the middle of the screen.
Gangster No.1 Eddie Marsen and Paul Bettany. Has to be one of the most malevolent depictions of verbal intimidation I've ever seen in a film and Bettany's and Marsens craft and talent for growing a scene into something bigger than what was originally intended is there for all to see.
one scene thst stands put for me is actually from the end of saving private Ryan not the start. Spielberg flips the viewers perspective suddenly from hanks to looking down thr barrel of the German rifle and you are first person shooting hanks. I personally have not seen this in another movie since and it jolts you completely out of the perspective
