He got it spot on enough to get the results. Which ultimately is his job. I have never ever subscribed to the notion style of football matters. I’m firmly in the win at all costs camp. However, I do feel with different tactics/subs/line ups we could have got better results in the three group games. As you mentioned especially vs Scotland. Knock outs have been nigh on perfect.
Thought he was brilliant when he came on, I get your point but I do think there's an argument that he's a much better impact sub than any of the other CM's would be. Could really change the game if he came on as Italy start to tire.
I have to say I couldn’t believe how fresh some of our players looked even at the end of extra time. Will be a very interesting match. Hope Italy don’t score first because I think that could be the game. You enjoy too
Oh come on, people find a reason to question Kane to moment he doesn't play well for 20 mins, there isn't a player alive who's been written off as many times as Kane. Yes, he did play poorly in the first games just as everyone else for England but even yesterday there were plenty of England fans complaining about Kane. But I guess it's a bit in Englands DNA for fans to not be able to set aside club bias.
If 'spot on' means playing negative, tedious football that just happened to be good enough to progress then we are indeed in disagreement. Perhaps we want something else out of football. To me it's more than about results, despite ultimately that being the aim. But who cares at this point, we're in the final and that was back in the group stages.
I think @BeeLz point was more beyond this tournament rather than any early tournament form to be fair. No matter what he does he gets criticism and his lack of trophies is the last real sticking point as far as his critics go. If he answers that criticism on Sunday I'm not sure where his critics move the goalposts to.
Italy will be at us the 1st half, i think after 60 minutes if its level, we have every chance. The midfield three of Italy do worry me and Phillips and Rice cant afford another 1st half performance like last night, they need to be at it from the whistle. We need to watch Chiesa, but i am less worried about Insigne and Immobile. From our side i think they may be too clever for Saka but its his tracking back and off the ball stuff that will keep him his place over Foden and Sancho. We are so good off the bench with the options we have. I'm expecting a tense first half which Italy will edge and i honestly think we will score around 60-70 minutes and hold out for 1-0.
Not sure how it's club bias, as far as I'm aware Middlesbrough have no rivalry with Tottenham. Kane has played very well in all the knockout games, he played very poorly in the group games for me.
Kane didn’t really get going till his goal. He was poor up to that point. Had he even had a SoT up to then? ...but...then as a Swindon Town fan I do have a deep rooted hatred for Spurs due to the incident in 1951. Scum.
Thinking more on what Jonesy said. Putting a bet on Italy doesn't seem that bad an idea. I don't want them to win, obviously, but it softens the blow if they do.
The Italians have been the team to beat all tournament and I still think they’re the best in it, but f*ck it if you can’t dream of England winning it now you’re a proper miserable bastard and football isn’t the sport for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Henderson is a better player than rice and Phillips. He is also a better leader. And has more experience in these big game scenarios. It won't happen, but he should 100% be starting him against Italy.
Unless you're chucking a few hundred on it, the returns won't soften the blow at all. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
How is that the right decision? Rice and Phillips in a final against Verrati and Jorginho. Phillips will be rightfully shown to be out of his depth, especially on the ball.
