I believe the 1.0 L Corsa is the 3 cylinder one and cheap on road tax and insurance. I know my 18 year old neice bought one for just those reasons, good on fuel too. The cost of insuring your first cars is obscene! I'm glad we didn't have to pay comparable figures when I passed a loooong time ago.
An alright car to start with I guess. I'll keep my very low opinion of the Corsa to myself for a few months.
Yeah cheap in all areas. Road Tax is £120 I think, going with my Mum on insurance - works out so much cheaper (by £2,000), but I wont get any no claims. What's wrong with them?
I honestly dont mind. Nothing wrong with it atm, although it's a tad slow - but I knew it would be. Sometimes I'll have my foot all the way down on the accelerator and it'll hardly move. Taking 4 other people to football on Saturday. Might have to leave much earlier than we normally would.
This isn't a dig at you Ross particularly but I fail to really see why some people are spending £5k+ on first cars? Maybe other people on here are more affluent I spend £1k on mine. An S reg (1998) Peugeot 106. It took me literally half an hour to find (via eBay). Me and Dad went down to look at it and it was all good, bought it there and then and not spent a SINGLE penny on it other than petrol since I passed last September. My tax is £62 for 6 months so hardly more than PJ's Corsa and my insurance is OK (compared to other rates for many 18 year olds). You may say I got lucky finding a good motor but there's plenty of them out there and I personally don't see the point in spending £7k when you could spend £1k - arguably even less. Indeed. I was lucky in the fact that my Dad was a car nut, but when he knew the right places to look and the signs of a sh*t car it really helped. I've had my 13 year old car for nearly 12 months now, not one single problem *touch wood* and it passed the MOT with flying colours.
