Presume the same for media but not one hundred percent. Chances are he will transfer to a major league within three years so could still be a solid investment. I've bought 30 shares in Nicola Murru. Could be Italy's LB going forward and is cheap as chips.

Murru cost me 19p at the time. I only do small stakes more for fun than anything. Currently turning over 40% profit which would be sound if I had the balls to bung a couple of K in to begin with.

Looking at your portfolio it seems most are kids? I think this is a general strategy which most use?

It's the best tactic for people like me who just want to earn enough money from it to have a free session in the pub. The players are cheaper and turn over the biggest percentage in profit if you know your stuff.

I bought a few shares in some bigger players like Coutinho and Griezmann who were some of the cheaper elite players to rack up some dividends. Here is the rest of my portfolio...

I know you can only hold players for three years. Think I've had most of these over 12 months now. It would be good to see their expiry date so to speak. Also need to know what happens after 3 years. Whether it autosells them and pays out whatever they're currently valued at or whether you lose the lot if you haven't sold up in time :shrug

    Complete novice to this.

These grow based on news reports etc don’t they? Is there anything to stop you from buying a load in December, waiting for all the January transfer rumours to flood in and then cashing out, ready to repeat just before the end of the season for the summer transfer window?

Some people use those tactics aye. Works adversely at times. You could buy someone you think is a banker to move in the window and if they don't move you probably end up making a loss on him.

A good idea is to get involved before the next share split. They decrease the values of all players by a certain percentage but to compensate you for the diminished value they times the amount of existing shares you have by the same percentage. After a while the values go back to what they once were and you've essentially had a load of free shares.

Edit: I would buy a load of younger talent before the split but hold back on the expensive proven players until after the split when their prices fall.

As you can see from my screenshot, I bought Rashford for £4.18 a share after the split. He's down atm because he's been crap all season but at one point last season before the split and when on form he shot to a tenner a share. Safe bet knowing at some point he will be near that mark again.

Yeah I think my portfolio will look a bit like that, mostly younger players with the odd one in the top 200. I really want them to put up Matheus Perierra who is playing for us (West Brom) on loan from Sporting - he is excellent and will go on to do better things but he isn't on the site yet :(

The top 200 doesn't really mean a lot anymore as they have expanded the Media Divs to all players on the platform. He could be a pretty good long term hold if he gets a move to one of the big 5 leagues, also a shout for Europa League dividends if Celtic go further In the competition.

    Thanks.

I haven't purchased him but I noticed Ter Stergen was also selling at around 80p. Are goalkeepers cheaper or something or am I missing something as it seems cheap for a Barcelona regular.

Goalkeepers are paired with defenders when it comes to matchday dividends so it's very rare you make any money that way, hence the low price. I tend to steer clear to be honest with you.

Yeah I bought Alisson hoping he'd shoot up once he returned, moved up a couple of pence.

    Lads, another question.

I've done ok this weekend - apart from Edouard who has gone down in value :(

Anyway, I've earned 5p in dividends - my question is does this money just get added to my total on the site or is it separate?
So, say I've got £50 in cash and 5p in dividends, is my total £50.05 or do I have to transfer the dividends in some way?

Any dividends go into your balance so you can either buy more shares, or withdraw when you have enough.

Don't worry about any sudden decreases in value. My portfolio has gone down £50 in the last 24 hours but it will always bounce back. It may take longer for Edouard to go back up because he is in a non top 5 league but it will happen I promise you. If there are rumours about a move to the continent in January then he will go up pretty rapidly.

Yes I'm not arsed and I expect it - I have money in the stock market actually which one stock has been declining for about 3 months since I bought it but I think it will bounce back. I also purchased Morelos who has gone up by the same price so he's cancelled it out, but I still believe Edouard is the better investment long-term.

I got McTominey yesterday too as he seemed relatively cheap, scored today and has gone up 6p which is lucky.

Bought a few Fabinho's at 69p and he's now worth 82p - I went to sell him this morning at 8am (not instant sell) and he's still not sold at 1.30pm.

Is this normal? I've never sold before so I thought I'd test it out and thought he would of sold much quicker.

    @Suffolk Punch

Do you know how to buy IPO's as soon as they go on the market? I saw Brandon Williams today released at £1 and he's now at £1.60 and I would have loved to have bought him. I was at work and got in about 30 mins ago but his value has already risen to £1.60 but when searching on the top 200 and squad list I could click on his name but it didn't update with him on there. I think it had bugged as he was so new but I would like to know for next time when a player goes live.

On a side note I'm doing well at this and have some good buys now - Pavard at under £1 was good and I've just bought some Lys Mousset's who is very cheap compared to similar players.

I think you just have to be lucky to be online when they add him to the index. I'm not sure there is any way of getting an alert to say when that is they just give you a timespan of when you can expect them to be added.

    Football Index News

The players that are due to be released pops up on this site and tells you approximately what time to be online for to get them in. Hope that helps.

I essentially just use footy index as a savings account. Going to have to sell most of my portfolio to fund Christmas this year so I will be starting from scratch at the end of the month!

I think it's very easy - I basically just buy players outside of the top 200 who are undervalued and then sell later. Mousset for instance was 68p and I sold at 97p. He's now worth £1.15 and that's literally 1 week later - so I could have made more money, I also bought Pavard at 98p who is now worth double that. I keep doing that now and slowly but surely I'm making more money/building it up. I will probably just put it into the stock market at some point and use it to fund that, it's great for what it is though.

Decided to have a go at getting players based on half reputable transfer links on Twitter.

Snapped up Matvyenko based off of links to Arsenal today and Willian Jose to Spurs.

Jose is up 19p a share and Matvyenko is 5p a share. Will keep updated.
