They played very well. I hope they can hold on in the 2nd leg and get that plum tie against Aston Villa.

That late 3rd will be very useful potentially.

I couldn’t help but warm to Joe Newell after his post-match interview. Came across as a very genuine lad.

Great results for the Edinburgh duo last night.

I didn’t think the Jam Tarts were going to do it.
Their tie in the play-off round looks winnable.
Obviously I don’t think Hibs have a chance against Aston Villa as they’re basically bottom-end League 1 level IMO but this must be their biggest European tie since they played Liverpool in 75/76.

They seem to have a great gameplan for holding onto a lead. Teams will probably figure it out soon enough, and approach the game with a more cagey attitude to make sure they don't get the first goal.

Aye it involves their players not getting red cards for elbows to the face and stonewall penalties being denied in their box.

Villa were pretty ruthless in exploiting the gap in quality between them and Hibs.
Lee Johnson’s tactics were atrocious, Digne was given free licence to cross at will.

I heard Villa have spent £100m this window and Hibs have spent £1.4m. Unfortunate reality is that this gap will never be closed now.

That is true but Hibs made it too easy for them. After all, Stevenage knocked them out of the FA Cup last season, but then Steve Evans is a better football manager than Lee Johnson.

I suspect it was rather a different team tbh but yes 5-0 is very convincing and one sided .

Was that the true reflection of the game ?

It was a bit weird as Villa basically played it at training ground pace, but because Hibs were so open, I got the feeling that Villa could score at will. Hibs had one shot on target at the start of the second half.

Great comeback from Aberdeen in Sweden to get a 2-2 draw. Hearts score an early penalty and then immediately concede one.

Excellent comeback by Aberdeen and almost won.

Hearts losing at home having had most of the game.

Disappointing that Shankland's excellent strike was chalked off, and of course the Greeks go straight up the park and score the winner.

Hearts were unlucky although giving away a penalty straightaway after their own is Heartsness par excellence.

Just watched Sportscene & not sure why Hibs appointed Lee Johnson in the 1st place , along with Lee Clark , good at interviews , sh*t at management , get rid & soonish , get Darren Moore in .
