Oh STFU will you. If you sent everyone down that had a scrap in a nightclub I'm afraid you'd need another 100 prisons built in the country.

No you're not...as said before if they sent everyone fighting in town down, we'd need another 100 prisons built in the country, just to house these prisoners. Every major city in the country must arrest 20 lads "fighting in town" each Thursday, Friday and Saturday...where do you send all these?

I have been done for similar, although I was actually splitting a fight up, I got found guilty and then won the appeal, I was fined £100. At no time did it look like I was getting a jail sentence. Actually, the lad I was up in court with, the one who was fighting, got similar, but didn't appeal.

Then so be it. A punch in the face leads to a kick on the head. Then that leads to people getting glassed, stabbed or even shot. So you STFU, stop looking through your red tinted glasses and see sense. I wonder if it was Gary Neville in Gerrards position, would you still be of the same opinion.

Until that attack leads to the kick in the head, stabbing, shooting, then you deal with that offence. That's like saying shoplifting leads to armed robbery, so if you get caught nicking a Mars Bar you should be sent down? Stop being a fookin drama queen will you? Next you'll be wanting to bang kids in the playground up for having a scrap.

If it were Neville? I'd think the same. Hell search the Joey Barton threads, I was one of the ones saying people were going OTT with him. It's the year 2009 now, this "scrap" of Gerrards was nothing to what goes on. We have chavs on the street getting slapped on the wrists for beating pensioners up, stabbing people, setting peoples houses on fire, etc and you want Gerrard banged up for a scuffle in a nightclub

You know what, you're absolutely right. We as a nation should start convicting citizens based on hypothetical situations. . .:rolleyes

No, you nip it in the bud early. Why wait til someone is glassed or stabbed? Try tellin that to victims families.Gerrard was found out to be the big time charlie he thinks he is, well, he may be adored on the pitch, but when it comes to havin a night out, he is just like the rest of us, who dont demand DJs to play music we want played, then start a scrap if we dont get our way. He got away to light IMO.

Get a grip will you. There was more to the case than what you read in The Sun newspaper...

If it weren't Steven Gerrard involved, you would'nt have batted an eyelid.

Of course the police would have been involved. The guy was assaulted. When someone gets assaulted and it is then reported to police, they have to act. Or are some people still in denial that an assault took place. I certainly wouldnt call gettin an elbow smashed into my face then punched by one or two others "handbags at 50 paces", but then, as I said, people see what they want to see.

    Don't by all that...

Last week I was out after the Istanbul play, ended up in the Old Edwards for some reason..

Cut along story short ended up getting done in by a couple of doormen in there, when I was outside soaked in blood, the bizzie's actually tried to cuff me at first ?

Any hint of bother the bizzies are right in there, and if the cPS dealwith it you've got the possibilty of doing a bit of bird

More to the point, i bet McGee wouldn't of called the police if Gerard wasn't involved, but then again we don't know if McGee was encouraging the argument hoping for trouble, knowing, a nice pay out was a possibility!

Of course, he had to make it as dramatic as possible...more compo you see ;)

As Birkenhead says, the hospital in Southport is right in the town centre, right by the club. The guy had a bleeding lip and an ambulance was required?

I laugh at how people can't see right through this case.

Its clear that McGee wasn't the nice talking innocent party here, I'm sure as hell he's said something derogatory to Gerrard, maybe even about his wife, but Gerrard isn't the type to want all that blirted out in court, so he's kept quiet. I mean who gets offended being called "mate"? Seriously? If Steven Gerrard called you "mate" and you get offended, to me you have a huge chip on your shoulder.

McGee is probably an arrogant tosser, that is out for a bit of stardom or cash.

Well technically it was "lad" not "mate", but I see your point Brian.

It seems like pettiness on both parts to me. Gerrard being a sulky footballer, and McGee being the "don't tell me what to do just because your famous" role.

It would have hurt neither of them to back down.

The video evidence for me is inconclusive, but in my personal opinion I don't believe Gerrard acted in self defence, I believe he acted in anger. Like you say, there is no doubt there is more to this on both sides(words exchanged etc) than we will ever know.

It was quite frankly a nothing incident, and in 9 out of 10 cases wouldn't have even gone to court.
