Not sure why group D starts before C, but there you go. I've really no idea what to expect from England. Fingers crossed for some good performances that rouse the nation. I fancy Scotland to qualify in 3rd.

    I have a little 96 feeling .

Draw against Croatia , beat Scotland ( Foden as a goalscorer ) & beat the Czech's then that's about as good as it gets .

I feel we have the players , we have the capability but do we have the coaches & managerial prowess to actually let them off the leash ?

Does anyone actually think we'll win it , seriously ?

Or am I a cynical ol' git !

I want England to win the tournament, I honestly do but knowing we'll face one of the teams from Group F if we get out of the group has killed the tournament for me before it's even really started. That's if we don't lose to Croatia in another very important game (we always have done recently) and if we don't conspire to let the Scots have their day in the sun.

Our record against the top sides in major tournament knockouts is so bad that the only hope is dragging Hungary to penalties by some miracle. Germany, France or Portual is a death sentence for England.

I think we'd be favourites against Germany given their recent struggles but France and Portugal are arguably the toughest teams in the competition

Seeing as i drew England in sweepstake then i will cheer them on. Also got a competition running with the same teams we drew for the top scoring team so honestly wont mind losing 10-9.

England to win 2-0. Kane and someone else to score.

Croatia a good side so would be happy with a draw, think we will beat Scotland and Czech republic to get through the group. Tough games await in the next round of we do though. Not optimistic of we do get through

I think everyone feels the same. It's hard to get excited when you think we'll go out in round 2!

Flag up, shirt on, beers in the fridge and getting excited now.

I'm worried that'll change once I see the team but I'll enjoy the build up to it!

Southgate is absolutely determined to suck any enjoyment out of this tournament.

Christ, I hate right footers playing at left back, especially when Chilwell and Shaw are good players! Please no...

Then you throw in Mings, who has been diabolical in two games against mediocre opposition.

Honestly cannot get my head round playing a right back at left back when the other two are fit, and in fairness to them, a decent level of ability and fitness. It’s not like they’re looked at as weak links in the side. The only excuse he can have is that they aren’t defensively as good as Trippier maybe? But being great defensively isn’t something that’s been levelled at Trippier over his career even at rb so what the fxxks this all about?
Maybe its BS leaked to the media for some reason.
If you put someone out of position like this then why not take Ben Godfrey and play him there? Better defensively, and has actually played at leftback this season. Trippier hasn’t played a single game on the left for Atletico all season.

Having just had a gander at transfermarkt he’s actually played LB once in his entire professional career.

I too am hoping it’s just some BS leak and if anyone other than Southgate was the manager I would be 100% confident it was.

    Not surprised Sterling is playing.

Rashford would be too if he was fully fit.

Trippier is teacher's pet he did the first presser with Southgate too he's gonna start every game even if it's out of position. Dunno how Sterling warrants a starting spot too lmfao no Grealish is a disgrace.

The media seem to have been pushing the option of Trippier being able to play left back for the last couple of weeks and every time I’ve heard I’ve thought has he ever actually played there ?

If that is the team I think you’re going to have to rely on outscoring them

Trippier has been very good this season at Atletico, so him being picked for the national side is not a problem, over the course of a season he’s probably been the most consistent performer at the highest level, and that’s with a change in club/manager/country/league thrown in. The issue is of course him being played in a position he has as much familiarity with as he does at striker!
There are likely outfield players that have seen more time in goal than Tripper has at LB.
But there is of course another option, perhaps the England camp have let it be known that Walker and Trippier will be playing and also let it be known that there’s no recognised left back in the starting 11. The media have then equated this to Trippier on the left. It could of course be that Walker plays rcb in a back 3, Trippier at rwb, and at lwb we play a winger, not a fullback.

Also, every England player should have Eriksen on their shirt!

Pretty sure Trippier played at LB against Belgium in the Nations League at Wembley last year
