I don't think at all he's overrated, he is the strongest player you have, but he won this Golden boot in a ridicolous way
I agree that he's not been great but Gary Lineker won the golden boot and most of his goals were even closer than the penalty spot. Statistically Kane has had a good world cup but he's gone missing for the last three games and has done nothing to enhance his reputation. 1/ That's not even English 2/ You're a ****
I believe the best way to sort the penalty situation is to introduce a rule where the person who wins the penalty must take the penalty.
So you penalise the attacking team twice? Most penalties are awarded as they've denied a goalscoring opportunity. The penalty gives you a chance to still score, you should definitely be allowed to have your best penalty taker take it FFS
Yes - particularly when Southgate's had the opportunity to rectify the situation at half-time. Frankly, that second-half seemed a bit Wengeresque - for reasons we'll probably never know. Or, at least until he writes his memoirs!
Not saying it is perfect but if people have a problem with players stat padding with penalties then this in the only way that can be changed. Sometimes the dedicated penalty takers are not even the best at them. look at Messi for example
How many people have a problem with it though? You'd be changing a rule for 1% of people. I don't get the argument to be honest. It doesn't matter whether it's a pen, a 30 yard screamer or a 2 yard tap in off his arse. They all count the same.
Don't get too rose tinted an opinion of proficient strikers being labelled world class, and rack up a decent goal tally, remember football has arrived at the farcical situation where it is now pretty much a non contact game, defenders have one arm tied behind their back knowing the slightest touch and the striker will be on his arse, and the ball is like a beach ball in lightness compared to yesteryear, free kick taking has never had such a bias, Yes it still takes talent, But It's a proverbial strikers paradise compared to Clive Allan, Ian Rush's day
I think you are totally wrong with this, Harry is a great example, he has even quoted his personal number reply to the likes of you, speak to him in person and see if you have the balls to question his talent and commitment ....
Football has arrived at a situation where athleticism and coaching are the best they ever have been, where percentage football has nearly died a death and where balls are so light that you need the poise and grace of a ballerina just to make sure your touch doesn't send it into the stands. But aye, it was so much harder in the days where defenders couldn't breathe properly for all-nighters and early morning kebabs!
nice little collection of the tap-ins harry has scored down the years. (slight overlap in goals in both vids).
