my guess its probably at least drivers over 21 for that type of vehicle with a additional compulsory xs of 150, we'll see how right i am tomorrow when i check lol
As a 17 year old you've got little to no chance mate even if you go on your parents insurance as a named driver. Even when you pass and have a full licence I doubt you'll be able to get insured on it, and if you do it'll be for something stupid like £3000 odd You really are best getting hold of a shitty £200 1 litre old banger and getting insured on that. When you pass you can drive it for a year to build up some no claims before upgrading. Even on a 1 litre insurance is something like £1600+ a year just on third party !In the end when your 17/18 just being able to drive is fooking amazing it doesn't really matter what it is. Anything's better than the bus
its going to be 1600+ a year at that age if your a boy, if your a girl you get cheaper, just how underwriting works, and also i cant find the diesel model on our look up, but the 3 litre petrol, has type terms and will refer, any decent insurance company wont insure you, its too high a risk. you would be better off getting a little run around and going on confused.com for the cheapest insurance you can get on it.
Its possible. Try admiral multicar and if you include another driver and their car it can be done. Someone I know has been passed a year and is insured on a Golf Gti for less than 2 grand. Tbh though your going to be paying loads on it. Should just get a little Fiesta or Corsa for your first year or two.
Just to give you some idea.. When I passed I went on my parents insurance to drive a daweo lanos 1.6, which cost about £400 extra I think (which I paid by the way, plus my petrol use, and a 3rd of all costs, not my parents), and I stayed on that untill I was just 24, when I finally decided to buy my own car.. an Alfa 166 2.5 V6. Cost me £870 to insure on my own. So to insure that mate, I'd forget it! Cheaper to buy a banger for the year, including the insurance I would have thought. Certainly better value anyway.
I remember how much I pushed my Dads insurance up by when I was insured on a 1.6 Astra, it wasn't cheap If it's anything like an ST200, it'll probably be too powerful for you to be insured on to be honest Adz and I'd hate to start with such a powerful car
1st get your parents to check there policy for a clause called " with owners permission" this means so long as you have the permission of the owner anyone is covered to drive the car on 3rd party terms min, sometime even fully comp. it's becoming a rare thing but that's how I drove for the 1st 18 months of having a licence, it just means should you prang it you folks would lose there no claims but if they are old it won't make that much difference to them in the long term anyway.
Cover under those terms would be 3rd Party only, so if he smashed the car up he'd have to pay for all repairs himself.
Don't even bother, I tried to insure a Seat Leon FR/Cupra, and you have to be over 21 to insure a 'high powered' vehicle.
find out the exact details and buy yourself a copy of Fast Car your most likely looking at companians like swinton specialist and Adrian Flux number for these and other companies who offer insurance on fast cars for younger drivers or specialist grey imports you can always get insurance on any car if you look in the right place
Went with them when I was on a provisional as they were cheapest but as soon as your on a full one they put it to a ridiculous price. They quoted me £3k on an old ford fiesta!!! Thankfully only have to wait til August then I can change to Churchill.
i remember insurance been dear just after i passed my test was about £1200 for my first year driving and that had a years no claims !! just how it is until you build up your no claims wrong IMO
as i stated MIN 3rd party, i drove on it for 18 months, stuck it in a wall and claimed and insurance company paid out as i HAD the owners permission to drive the car.
